Migration policy

open access: yes
Abstract EU migration policy has been strongly influenced by crises, notably with regard to the arrival of asylum applicants. While they did not bring about major changes to the Treaty framework, recent events have resulted in forms of informal governance and the adoption of new legislation.

Who Needs Them? Care Work, Migration and Public Policy

open access: yesCuadernos de Relaciones Laborales, 2012
This paper examines how immigration policies on migrant care workers are both pragmatic ‘policy solutions’ and also reflect and construct social ideas and relations about gender, labour and nation, with a particular focus on the UK.

Red Blood Cells Internalize Extracellular DNA via Apoptotic Bodies with Clinical Relevance to Cancer Patients

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Mature red blood cells (RBCs) can capture extracellular DNA, with short fragments homologous to cfDNA. This uptake is mediated by apoptotic bodies, which induce RBC oxidative stress, deformation, and accelerated in vivo clearance. The rbcDNA abundance correlates with tumor burden and therapeutic response, highlighting its potential as a liquid biopsy ...

Immigrant integration: the governance of ethno-cultural differences

open access: yesComparative Migration Studies, 2019
This commentary is a reply to the article ‘Against immigrant integration’ by Willem Schinkel. It argues that rather than abandoning immigrant integration as a field of research, we have to continue to strengthen critical approaches. Immigrant integration

OTUD6A in Airway Epithelial Cells Exacerbates Allergic Asthma by Promoting Airway Inflammation and Airway Remodeling Through Deubiquitination of hResistin/mRELMα

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study elucidates a novel mechanistic role of the deubiquitinase OTUD6A in asthma pathogenesis, uncovering its regulatory function in airway inflammation and airway remodeling through the stabilization of hResistin/mRELMα. This study offers a novel regulatory axis (OTUD6A‐hResistin/mRELMα) in asthma pathogenesis and OTUD6A inhibition as a potential

All‐PEG‐Like Block Copolymers Self‐Assemble into Stealth Nanocarriers for Drug Delivery

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Self‐assembling nanoparticles composed entirely of POEGMA are engineered by exploiting side‐chain–dependent amphiphilicity and tunable thermoresponsive behavior. These single‐material nanocarriers encapsulate diverse hydrophobic drugs with high efficiency, retain therapeutic activity, improve in vivo efficacy, and evade anti‐PEG antibodies.
