Image Processing with Process Migration

2015
In this paper the preemptivemigration for the image processing is presented. The migration is defined based on the information policy, transfer policy and location policy. The tests for the image negative calculation were performed. In case of big images minimum 4000×4000 pixels the speedup 2.5 to 3 was achieved.

Object and process migration in .NET

Proceedings of the Eighth International Workshop on Object-Oriented Real-Time Dependable Systems, 2003. (WORDS 2003)., 2003
Most of today's distributed computing systems in the field do not support the migration of execution entities among computing nodes during runtime. The relatively static association between units of processing and computing nodes makes it difficult to implement fault-tolerant behavior or load-balancing schemes. The concept of code migration may provide

Migration Processes [PDF]

open access: possibleSSRN Electronic Journal, 2012
In early July 2012, the RF President signed Russia’s State Migration Policy Concept. Two months later, the RF Government considered a draft plan of measures aimed at implementing that concept. The plan sets timelines for the new laws on migration designed to implement the Concept to be presented for consideration – 2012 and 2013.

Global migration processes and migration risks

Process vs. task migration

Proceedings of HICSS-29: 29th Hawaii International Conference on System Sciences, 1996
This paper describes task and process migration for the OSF/1 AD Operating System (OS server for massively parallel processors and clusters of workstations. OSF/1 AD, runs in user space, on top of the Mach microkernel. A process in the OSF/1 AD server is composed of a Mach task state (memory, capabilities, threads, etc.) and of the UNIX-related state ...

Fast dynamic process migration

Proceedings of 16th International Conference on Distributed Computing Systems, 2002
Dynamic process migration supports load sharing and processor fault tolerance. We present the new freeze free algorithm for process migration, which uses six techniques to: reduce process migration latency by an order of magnitude to 19.9 ms, effectively eliminate message freeze times, and to support processor fault tolerance. The freeze free algorithm

Implementation of process migration in Amoeba

14th International Conference on Distributed Computing Systems, 2002
The design of a process migration mechanism for the Amoeba distributed operating system is described. The primary motivation for this implementation is to carry out experimental and realistic studies of load balancing algorithms for a distributed operating system.

Process migration in DEMOS/MP

Proceedings of the ninth ACM symposium on Operating systems principles - SOSP '83, 1983
Process migration has been added to the DEMOS/MP operating system. A process can be moved during its execution, and continue on another processor, with continuous access to all its resources. Messages are correctly delivered to the process's new location, and message paths are quickly updated to take advantage of the process's new location.

Formal Modeling of Process Migration

2007 International Conference on Field Programmable Logic and Applications, 2007
This paper develops a formal model of process migration that describes programs, processes, and the migration of those processes within a migration realm. A migration realm is a group of processors modeled as finite state machines. The model is motivated by a migration application between software and field programmable gate array (FPGA) hardware, and ...
