The sequential approach to the product of distribution

open access: yesInternational Journal of Mathematics and Mathematical Sciences, 2001
It is well known that the sequential approach is one of the main tools of dealing with product, power, and convolution of distribution (cf. Chen (1981), Colombeau (1985), Jones (1973), and Rosinger (1987)).

Conserving Large Old Trees in Guangxi, South China: Diversity, Distribution, and Preservation Strategies

open access: yesEcology and Evolution, Volume 16, Issue 2, February 2026.
This study comprehensively analyzes the diversity and distribution of over 500 year old large old trees (LOTs) in Guangxi, China, identifying 2630 LOTs from 149 species with a notable latitudinal gradient in richness. Tree vitality was found to be highest in rural and natural habitats like villages and scenic spots, compared to residential areas.

Distribution Patterns and Maintenance Mechanisms of Ancient Trees in Traditional Villages and Their Surroundings in Hebei Province, China

open access: yesDiversity and Distributions, Volume 32, Issue 2, February 2026.
ABSTRACT Aim To understand the drivers shaping biodiversity in long‐inhabited anthropogenic landscapes, this study investigates how environmental filtering and cultural pressures jointly determine the species diversity and spatial distribution of ancient trees surrounding traditional villages.

Will biodiversity actions yield healthy places? A systematic review of human health outcomes associated with biodiversity‐focused urban greening

open access: yesPeople and Nature, Volume 7, Issue 11, Page 2622-2658, November 2025.
Abstract There is growing interest in using urban greening projects to support biodiversity. While there are many potential co‐benefits, the health outcomes resulting from biodiversity‐supporting activities have yet to be synthesized. We conducted a systematic review of health outcomes associated with seven biodiversity‐supporting elements, including ...

Bird guilds show different responses to tree retention levels: a meta-analysis

open access: yesGlobal Ecology and Conservation, 2019
Since the introduction of retention forestry in the 1990s, its practice has spread in the boreal and temperate regions. Its benefits for biodiversity are well recognised, and usually presented in the form of aggregated results for each taxonomic group ...

Traditional knowledge promotes the protection of large old trees: A case from China's richest biocultural diversity area

open access: yesPeople and Nature, Volume 7, Issue 11, Page 2700-2713, November 2025.
Abstract Large old trees are important ecological entities in human settlements, providing cultural values and ecological services that are threatened by current and future changes in global climate, land use and disturbance regimes. Some studies suggest incorporating social and cultural significance into the conservation of large old trees.

Prioritization of Users in Ecosystem Service Valuation: Implications for the Design of Differentiated Conservation Policies

open access: yesEcology and Evolution, Volume 15, Issue 10, October 2025.
These findings support the proposal of differentiated conservation strategies aligned with the social priorities of various educational groups. It is concluded that public conservation policies must incorporate the diversity of social perceptions as an essential element for achieving sustainable and participatory environmental management.
