Cardiopulmonary arrest following extradural analgesia and suspected secondary sympathetic blockade in a critically ill dog

open access: yesVeterinary Record Case Reports, Volume 14, Issue 2, May 2026.

Allogenic blood patch pleurodesis for management of presumptive secondary spontaneous pneumothorax in a cat

open access: yesVeterinary Record Case Reports, Volume 14, Issue 2, May 2026.
Abstract A 7‐year‐old spayed female domestic shorthair cat was presented with respiratory distress due to presumed spontaneous pneumothorax. High‐resolution computed tomography identified subpleural blebs and paraseptal emphysema with peribronchial thickening and bronchiectasis.

Navigating uncertainty in life cycle assessment‐based approaches to biodiversity footprinting

open access: yesMethods in Ecology and Evolution, Volume 17, Issue 5, Page 1387-1404, May 2026.
Abstract The use of life cycle assessment (LCA) methods is rapidly expanding as a means of estimating the biodiversity impacts of organisations across complex value chains. However, these methods have limitations and substantial uncertainties, which are rarely communicated in the results of LCAs.

Integrating biodiversity and business: Emerging methods driving the nature economy

open access: yesMethods in Ecology and Evolution, Volume 17, Issue 5, Page 1326-1335, May 2026.
Abstract Biodiversity is increasingly recognised as a material (i.e. significant) risk to corporate value creation due to links with climate risk, land use and social equity, and through growing engagement with frameworks, such as the Taskforce on Nature‐related Financial Disclosure and Science‐Based Targets Network.

Plasma Dilution After Myocardial Ischemia–Reperfusion Injury Promotes Cardiac Repair, Heart Performance, and Recovery of Motor Function and Endurance in Old Mice

open access: yesAging Cell, Volume 25, Issue 5, May 2026.
Plasma dilution at 24 h after I/R improved cardiac remodeling, function, and the physical performance of old male and female mice, through lowered markers of inflammation, fibrosis, reduction of cardiomyocytes' apoptosis, increase in their cell‐cycle re‐entry, and healthier profile of newly synthesized proteome, including the determinants of Jak/Stat ...

Divergence in μ and δ opioid receptor pharmacology in neurons and antinociceptive efficacy in neuropathic pain: Insights from MP135 and CYM51010

open access: yesBritish Journal of Pharmacology, Volume 183, Issue 10, Page 2307-2323, May 2026.
Background and purpose Opioids targeting the μ opioid receptor remain largely ineffective in neuropathic pain conditions, emphasizing the need for novel therapeutic strategies. MP135 was reported to reduce thermal nociception in naive animals by activating μ‐δ opioid receptor heteromers.
