Oligosaccharides in Milk: Their Benefits and Future Utilization [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
The percentage of carbohydrate in the milk/colostrum of the mammalian is range from trace to over 10%, of which disaccharide lactose (Gal(β1-4)Glc) is usually constitutes the major part.

Multivalent Protein Nanorings for Broad and Potent SARS‐CoV‐2 Neutralization

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
A protein‐only, modular multivalent nanoscaffold displaying 20 anchor points, decorated with two different binders (10 of each), targeting the SARS‐CoV‐2 receptor‐binding domain is presented. The construct self‐assembles into stable, biocompatible, homogeneous nanoparticles, exhibit synergistic binding with fM IC50 values. It also detects spike at 9 ng

State‐of‐the‐Art, Insights, and Perspectives for MOFs‐Nanocomposites and MOF‐Derived (Nano)Materials

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Different approaches to MOF‐NP composite formation, such as ship‐in‐a‐bottle, bottle‐around‐the‐ship and in situ one‐step synthesis, are used. Owing to synergistic effects, the advantageous features of the components of the composites are beneficially combined, and their individual drawbacks are mitigated.

Cost analysis of establishing and operating the first human milk bank at Da Nang Hospital for Women and Children in Vietnam: an activity-based costing ingredients study

open access: yesInternational Breastfeeding Journal
Background Breastfeeding is the biological norm for feeding infants and young children. When mothers’ breastmilk is unavailable, donor human milk (DHM) from a human milk bank (HMB) becomes the next option for small vulnerable newborns.

Bi‐Functional Topospecific Nanoparticles to Promote Immune‐Tumor Cell Engagement as A New Immunotherapeutic Strategy

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
A Janus‐engineered nanoplatform (J‐pHLIP‐PD1), featuring separate tumor‐ and immune‐targeting faces, bridges melanoma cells and cytotoxic T lymphocytes using toposelective pHLIP and anti‐PD‐1 presentation. This strategy elicits robust antitumor responses, promotes immunogenic tumor cell death, suppresses lung metastasis in vivo, and provides a modular,

Advances in polysaccharide-based probiotic delivery systems: A review

open access: yesCarbohydrate Polymer Technologies and Applications
Probiotics have a positive effect on improving the balance of gut microbes, enhancing immune function, and reducing the symptoms of chronic diseases. However, the survival and stability of probiotics in the gastrointestinal tract is limited. Many methods

An Ultrapotent, Ultraeconomical, Antifreeze Polypeptide

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Simple and inexpensive polypeptides composed of random copolymers of alanine and glutamic acid are effective antifreezes for applications in foods and biomedicine. The polypeptides, inspired by natural extremophile proteins, inhibit the growth of large ice crystals and prevent damage to sensitive biologics.

Virus Enhanced Microrobots for Biofilm Eradication

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Biofilms resist antimicrobials across medicine, industry, and environments. We present virus‐conjugated microrobots synthesized hydrothermally and magnetically actuated. Their motion and viral specificity enable targeted binding, penetration, and delivery, outperforming bare microrobots.

International expert meeting on the donation and use of human milk: Brief report

open access: yesMaternal and Child Nutrition
Where a mother's own milk is not available or is insufficient, donor human milk (DHM) processed by a human milk bank (HMB) is the recommended next best alternative. HMBs exist in over 65 countries.
