User Impact on Phased and Switch Diversity Arrays in 5G Mobile Terminals

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2018
In this paper, a mobile terminal phased array at 28 GHz with different scan angles is compared with a switch diversity antenna array at 28 GHz in the case of antenna beams pointing at the user's body.

Millimeter-wave detection of landmines

open access: yesSPIE Proceedings, 2013
Millimeter wave absorption relative to background soil can be used for detection landmines with little or no metal content. At these frequencies, soil and landmine absorb electromagnetic energy differently. Stepped frequency measurements from 20 GHz to 60 GHz were used to detect buried surrogate landmines in the soil.

A Non-Linear Correction Method for Terahertz LFMCW Radar

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2020
The nonlinearity in terahertz (THz) linear frequency modulated continuous wave (LFMCW) radar usually blurs the range profile and decreases the signal to noise ratio, hampering applications where high range-resolution is particularly emphasized.

Wide-Band and Wide-Angle Scanning Phased Array Antenna for Mobile Communication System

open access: yesIEEE Open Journal of Antennas and Propagation, 2021
A wide-band phased array antenna with wide-angle scanning capability for mobile communication system is proposed in this article. An air cavity is properly embedded into the substrate under each array element.

Nonlinearity and Noise Effects in Multi-level Signal Millimeter-Wave over Fiber Transmission using Single- and Dual-Wavelength Modulation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
We transmit multilevel quadrature amplitude modulation (QAM) data-IEEE 802.16 schemes-at 20 MSps and an orthogonal frequency-division multiplexing (OFDM) 802.11 g signal (54 Mbps) with a 25 GHz millimeter-wave over fiber system, which employs a dual ...

Theoretical Extension of a Microwave EM Method for Predicting the Terahertz Scattering of Electrically Large Complex Target

open access: yesLeida xuebao, 2018
Two important issues must be considered when modeling the terahertz (THz) wave scattering behavior using microwave EM methods. The first is the material response characteristics, including the metallic materials that may be beyond the scope of the Drude ...

Cylindrical Three-Dimensional Millimeter-Wave Imaging via Compressive Sensing

open access: yesInternational Journal of Antennas and Propagation, 2015
Millimeter-wave (MMW) imaging techniques have been used for the detection of concealed weapons and contraband carried by personnel. However, the future application of the new technology may be limited by its large number of antennas.
