Gamma-ray emission from millisecond pulsars - an Outergap perspective [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Astronomy and Space Sciences, 2013
In this review paper we explain the following gamma-ray emission features from the millisecond pulsars. (1) Why is the dipolar field of millisecond pulsars so weak but the magnetic pair creation process may still be able to control the size of the ...

Binary and Millisecond Pulsars [PDF]

open access: yesLiving Reviews in Relativity, 1998
Our knowledge of binary and millisecond pulsars has greatly increased in recent years. This is largely due to the success of large-area surveys which have brought the known population of such systems in the Galactic disk to around 50.

Transitional millisecond pulsars [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020
Millisecond pulsars in tight binaries have recently opened new challenges in our understanding of physical processes governing the evolution of binaries and the interaction between astrophysical plasma and electromagnetic fields. Transitional systems that showed changes from rotation-powered to accretion powered states and vice versa have bridged the ...

Pulse Profiles of Millisecond Pulsars [PDF]

open access: greenInternational Astronomical Union Colloquium, 1996
We present a comparison between the average radio pulse profiles of millisecond pulsars (MSPs) in the field and in globular clusters. Our sample consists of 20 field MSPs and 25 cluster MSPs for which observations exist at 400 - 600 MHz.We find that 6 of the 20 field MSPs, or about 30%, have a comparable interpulse at a phase offset of 180 ±30 degrees.

Millisecond Pulsars in 47 Tucanae [PDF]

open access: bronzeInternational Astronomical Union Colloquium, 2000
AbstractRecent observations of the globular cluster 47 Tuc, made with the Parkes telescope at a wavelength of 20 cm, have resulted in the discovery of nine new millisecond pulsars (MSPs), all in binary systems. The number of timing solutions available has risen from two to 14.

Une perception discrète ? Et le sens de la continuité du temps, alors ?

open access: yesRecherches, 2021
Individuals with disorders on the schizophrenia spectrum report temporal thought fragmentation and of their bodily sense of self. These clinical descriptions question the mechanisms that enable a sense of continuity of time, and a sense of immersion in ...

Exploring Frontiers of 4D X-ray Tomography

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2021
In the 4D world of three-dimensional (3D) space plus time that we live in, there is a vast blue ocean in the spatio-temporal domain of micrometers and milliseconds that has never been accessed even with the most advanced measurement technology, and it is

Numerical Study of Rock Damage Mechanism Induced by Blasting Excavation Using Finite Discrete Element Method

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2022
In this paper, the mechanism of rock damage induced by blasting excavation is numerically studied by using an FDEM-based multiphysics fracture analysis software, MultiFracS.

Spin Equilibrium of Rapidly Spinning Neutron Stars via Transient Accretion

open access: yesGalaxies, 2023
The concept of spin equilibrium due to an interaction between the stellar magnetosphere and a thin, Keplerian accretion disk, and a well-known formula of the corresponding equilibrium spin frequency, provide a key understanding of spin evolution and the ...

Millisecond pulsar velocities [PDF]

open access: yesMonthly Notices of the Royal Astronomical Society, 1999
We present improved timing parameters for 13 millisecond pulsars (MSPs), including nine new proper motion measurements. These new proper motions bring to 23 the number of MSPs with measured transverse velocities. In light of these new results we present and compare the kinematic properties of MSPs with those of ordinary pulsars.
