Iridium(III) Carbene Complexes Featuring Either Metal‐to‐Ligand Charge Transfer (MLCT) or Through‐Space Charge Transfer (TSCT) Blue Luminescence

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, EarlyView.
Ir(III) complexes with contrasting MLCT or TSCT transition characters were synthesized, among which the TSCT emitter f‐ct13b gave PhOLED device with an EQEmax of 22.2% and CIExy of (0.155, 0.120). Additionally, hyper‐OLED bearing another TSCT sensitizer, f‐ct13c and v‐DABNA terminal emitter, achieved a narrowband blue hyperphosphorescence with EQEmax ...

Optical Probes for Cellular Imaging of G‐quadruplexes: Beyond Fluorescence Intensity Probes

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, EarlyView.
DNA and RNA can fold into tetra‐stranded helical structures known as G‐quadruplexes (G4s). There is mounting evidence suggesting that these structures have important biological roles. In this minireview we discuss advances in the design of optical probes for the detection of G4s that offer intensity‐independent readouts that address limitations of ...

Remote Silyl Groups Enhance Hydrolytic Stability and Photocleavage Efficiency in Carbamates for Protein Release

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, EarlyView.
Introducing remote silyl groups into coumarin derivatives enhances their hydrolytic stability and photocleavage efficiency. This innovative molecular design enables efficient protein release from solid phase material upon photo irradiation, advancing applications in chemical biology and photomanipulation.

Biomimetic Adhesion/Detachment Using Layered Polymers with Light‐Induced Rapid Shape Changes

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, EarlyView.
Geckos achieve rapid adhesion and detachment through their hierarchically structured toe pads. Inspired by this, we developed a crosslinked polymer film with a nanoscale layered structure that undergoes high‐speed, reversible expansion, and contraction under UV light.
