This first part of a two‐part article illustrates how research in evolutionary biology and psychology illuminates questions arising in philosophy—specifically questions about the origins of severe, systemic aggression that arise in the mimetic theory of

Disformal invariance of continuous media with linear equation of state [PDF]
We show that the effective theory describing single component continuous media with a linear and constant equation of state of the form $p=w\rho$ is invariant under a 1-parameter family of continuous disformal transformations. In the special case of $w=1/

Asymptotically Free Mimetic Gravity [PDF]
The idea of "asymptotically free" gravity is implemented using a constrained mimetic scalar field. The effective gravitational constant is assumed to vanish at some limiting curvature. As a result singularities in contracting spatially flat Friedmann and

Energy conditions in mimetic-$f(R)$ gravity
The energy conditions of mimetic-$f(R)$ gravity theory is analyzed. We will obtain the parameter space of the theory in some special forms of $f(R)$ in which the self-acceleration is allowed.

Large-scale structure in mimetic Horndeski gravity
In this paper, we propose to use the mimetic Horndeski model as a model for the dark universe. Both cold dark matter (CDM) and dark energy (DE) phenomena are described by a single component, the mimetic field.

Targeting p38α in cancer: challenges, opportunities, and emerging strategies
p38α normally regulates cellular stress responses and homeostasis and suppresses malignant transformation. In cancer, however, p38α is co‐opted to drive context‐dependent proliferation and dissemination. p38α also supports key functions in cells of the tumor microenvironment, including fibroblasts, myeloid cells, and T lymphocytes.

De la victime émissaire à la pensée symbolique
What place does René Girard occupy in the human sciences? Our answer shall start with his criticism of Freudian psychoanalysis, which leads him to consider violence as the « transcendental signifier » of desires and of every cultural expression.
