An Overview of Massive MIMO: Benefits and Challenges
IEEE Journal on Selected Topics in Signal Processing, 2014Massive multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) wireless communications refers to the idea equipping cellular base stations (BSs) with a very large number of antennas, and has been shown to potentially allow for orders of magnitude improvement in spectral ...

The presence of fading in radio communications is the major impairment to reach the promised capacity. Diversity is a way to limit the fading effects and MIMO is a technique to exploit it. It is shown that in terrestrial mobile radio communications MIMO is an effective techniques while for satellite systems it requires further study to exploit possible

To MIMO or Not To MIMO in Mobile Satellite Broadcasting Systems
IEEE Transactions on Wireless Communications, 2011This letter studies the potential capacity advantages of introducing a dual polarization per beam paradigm instead of the conventional single polarization per beam in mobile satellite broadcasting systems. This enables the application of MIMO techniques, not yet thoroughly investigated for mobile satellite systems.

Broadband MIMO antennas for MIMO radar systems
2013 IEEE Antennas and Propagation Society International Symposium (APSURSI), 2013Methods of reducing both electric and magnetic field coupling for enhancing the isolation in broadband MIMO antenna system is presented. The proposed MIMO antenna consists of two coplanar waveguide (CPW) fed self-complementary antennas (SCAs) and a U-shaped slot is etched on the ground plane.

Multipath signal effect on the capacity of MIMO, MIMO-OFDM and spread MIMO-OFDM
15th International Conference on Microwaves, Radar and Wireless Communications (IEEE Cat. No.04EX824), 2004MIMO (multiple-input multiple-output), MIMO-OFDM (MIMO orthogonal frequency division multiplexing) and spread MIMO-OFDM systems are considered as candidates for future broadband wireless services. In order to compare their performances, the effects of multipath signal propagation on the capacity, under both single and multi-user channel, are examined ...

MIMO to LS-MIMO: A road to realization of 5G
AIP Conference Proceedings, 2017MIMO means multiple inputs multiple outputs. As it refers MIMO is a RF technology used in many new technologies these days to increase link capacity and spectral efficiency. MIMO is used in Wi-Fi, LTE, 4G, 5G and other wireless technologies. This paper describes the earlier history of MIMO-OFDM and the antenna beam forming development in MIMO and types

Optimal MIMO PID Controllers for the MIMO Processes
ASME 2011 Dynamic Systems and Control Conference and Bath/ASME Symposium on Fluid Power and Motion Control, Volume 1, 2011This paper focuses on the design method of the optimal multiple inputs and multiple outputs (MIMO) proportional integral derivative (PID) controllers for the MIMO processes via using Lyapunov theorems. A hybrid augmented integral squared error (HAISE) is applied to design the optimal multi-loop PID controller for the MIMO plants. The optimal multi-loop

5G Enabling Technologies - MIMO, Multiuser MIMO, and Massive MIMO Slides
2017In this webinar, the fundamentals underlying the MIMO concept are explained. It will be shown how multiple reflections in indoor and urban environments can be effectively used to create additional independent channels that can serve the purposes of diversity and/or spatial multiplexing.
