Power Supply in the Surface Mining Industries

1969
Surface mining machinery has increased in size and power to enable deeper deposits to be exploited economically at high rates of production. Most of these machines are electrically operated and this requires carefully planned electrical distribution systems and supporting services such as an increasing degree of automation to reduce the expensive ...

Modeling and Simulation of an Inverted Mine Charging Power Supply

2011
To solve the problem of a difficult mathematical modeling and complex parameters tuning of an IGBT-baseinverted mine charging power supply, this chapter adopts simulation technology based on Simulink to establish a nonlinear closed-loop simulation model of a mine charging power supply under conventional PWM (pulse width modulation) control mode.

Simulation of Coal Mine and Supply Chain to a Power Plant

Mineral Resources Engineering, 1998
A case study is presented of a simulation model of an existing complex underground coal mine and of a future coal supply chain to one of the operating power plants in South Africa whose capacity is being extended. The purpose of the simulation study was to establish the sufficiency of the mine capacity to meet the increased demand in future as well as ...

Some aspects of power supply for mining machines

Journal of electrical and power engineering
The article considers some aspects of power supply of mining machines, namely voltage fluctuations during transient modes. The operating modes of electric drives of mining machines are studied. It is determined that the engines of mining combines overcome peak loads even during constant operation, which is associated with mining and geological features.

Effect of Mine Hoist Drives on the Electrical Power Supply System

IEEE Transactions on Industry Applications, 1987
Many of the orebodies presently being developed are in remote locations and are, or will be, served by electrical power systems of limited capacity. The largest single components of the electrical system of an underground mine are usually the production hoist drives; the power demands of these drives vary continuously throughout each hoisting cycle.
