Mining haul truck operation failure analysis

Engineering Journal of Satbayev University, 2023
Estimated 45% of all mining equipment worldwide is mining haul trucks. More than 44 thousand mining haul trucks are in operation worldwide as per 2017 Mine Safety and Health Administration of USA reports and over 20% of accidents with fatalities on mining equipment happens with participation of mining haul trucks.

Truck safety barriers for mining sites

ANZIAM Journal, 2017
Safescape is a Western Australian company that has recently developed a device for improved safety in open-pit mines. Serious accidents can occur when large trucks veer off the roads running around the edge of the mine. The conventional technique to mitigate the risk is to pile waste rock to form a so-called bund on the edge of the road. This method is

Recent Advances in Mining Haul Trucks

IEEE Transactions on Industrial Electronics, 2004
Electric mining haul trucks are one of the most challenging applications of power electronics in automotive systems. This paper presents some advances in very-high-power trucks used in copper mines. The special operational and environmental requirements for this application are highlighted.

Patterns in Mining Haul Truck Accidents

Proceedings of the Human Factors and Ergonomics Society Annual Meeting, 2012
To help develop ergonomics audit programs for mining, one source of data on both work tasks and their failures is accident reports. These are available in most industries and are often used in human factors engineering, but typically to justify and evaluate interventions rather than to provide task details and failure mechanisms.

Designing of blower motors on mining trucks

2012 IEEE International Power Engineering and Optimization Conference, 2012
This paper summarized key points to design blower motors for cooling alternator and traction motors on mining trucks. The both blower motors are directly connected to the alternator terminals, which have widely variable voltage and frequency. Although the alternator voltage is a sinusoidal wave form, but a huge rectifier, as a non-linear load, destroys

Truck dispatching in an open pit mine

International Journal of Surface Mining, Reclamation and Environment, 1989
Abstract In an open pit mine operated by trucks and shovels, the trucks should be dispatched from the crusher to the shovels in such a way that the productivity of trucks and shovels in maximized while maintaining a rational production plan as well as obtaining target grades and other objectives with small variations at the entrance to the concentrator.

Determinants of fuel consumption in mining trucks

Energy, 2016
Abstract Analysis of fuel consumption in a large surface mine, during more than 5000 cycles of material transportation, revealed considerable variability in the data. Truck fuel estimation based on the mining truck manufacturers' manuals/estimates is not capable of capturing this variability in the fuel consumption data.
