Amino acid salts for integrated CO2 capture and mineral carbonation of BOF slag

open access: yesJournal of CO2 Utilization
Negative emissions technologies are critical for mitigating rising CO2 emissions. This study evaluates three amino acid salts – potassium glycinate, potassium sarcosinate, and potassium lysinate – for enhancing mineral carbonation of basic oxygen furnace

Additives Enhancing Biodegradability in Plastics and Potential Implications for Textiles: A Mechanistic Review

open access: yesJournal of Applied Polymer Science, EarlyView.
Mechanistic insights from additive‐assisted plastic degradation guide the design of environmentally adaptive textile fibers. Functional additives enhance oxidative, hydrolytic, enzymatic, and microbial degradation pathways. Translating these strategies requires control of fiber architecture, additive distribution, and environmental interactions ...

Valorization of Post‐Consumer Waste From Metallized Flexible Packaging and Industrial EPM Waste: Development of Sustainable Composites

open access: yesJournal of Applied Polymer Science, EarlyView.
Post‐consumer metallized flexible packaging waste and industrial EPM waste are transformed into sustainable composites through mechanical recycling. The incorporation of 30 wt% EPM provides the most favorable balance between stiffness, ductility, and impact resistance, achieving 53.36 kJ/m2.

Histology and fossil diagenesis of a pterosaur tooth from the Crato Formation (Lower Cretaceous of Brazil)

open access: yesThe Anatomical Record, EarlyView.
Abstract Pterosaur dental biology remains poorly understood despite its importance for comprehending feeding strategies and flight adaptations. Here, we present the first comprehensive histological analysis of an ornithocheiriform pterosaur tooth from the Lower Cretaceous Crato Formation (Santana Group, Northeast Brazil).

Multi-modal imaging of the cementitious carbonation front: Evidence for pore refinement

open access: yesJournal of CO2 Utilization
Cementitious carbonation is an important phenomenon considering its dual implications on durability (carbonation-induced steel corrosion) and sustainability (CO2 mineralization in carbonatable binders).
