Sorption of Metal Ions on Clay Minerals
Journal of Colloid and Interface Science, 1999The mechanism of Co uptake from aqueous solution onto hectorite (a magnesian smectite) and its impact on the stability of this clay mineral were investigated as a function of Co concentration (TotCo = 20 to 200 µM, 0.3 M NaNO(3)) and ionic strength (0.3 and 0.01 M NaNO(3), TotCo = 100 µM) by combining kinetics measurements and Co K-edge extended X-ray ...

This chapter presents the main food characteristics impacted by both the nature and the content of mineral ions through a few selected examples. It provides on the involvement of mineral ions on taste perception of different food systems, on the colour of foods, and on the texture and structure of foods.

Helium ion implantation into minerals
Earth and Planetary Science Letters, 1990Abstract We implanted rock-forming minerals (olivine, magnetite, ilmenite, and rutile) with a 3.6 keV helium ion beam, which simulates solar wind α-particles, and analyzed implanted helium. A total fusion experiment shows that nearly 100% of impinging helium ions is trapped in a target at smaller doses, while the concentration of trapped helium tends

The influence of transition metal ions on collagen mineralization
Materials Science and Engineering: C, 2013The ions in body fluid play an important role in bone formation besides being a synthesizing material. Transition metal ions Co(2+), Ni(2+), Zn(2+), Fe(3+), Mn(2+), Cu(2+), Cd(2+) and Hg(2+) doped hydroxyapatite (HAP)/collagen composites were synthesized successfully in the presence of collagen traces at mild acidic pH for the first time.
