Advanced Flame Retardant Strategies and Fire Performance Assessment for Safer Photovoltaics in Buildings: A Two‐Part Review

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
The integration of photovoltaic (PV) systems into building structures introduces distinct fire risks with critical implications for occupant safety. This review examines the key fire hazards associated with PV implementation and explores mitigation strategies, including flame‐retardant additives.

Dispersants in Stirred Ball Mill Grinding

open access: yesKONA Powder and Particle Journal, 2014
The influence of chemical dispersants on the milling of dolomite was examined using a stirred ball mill. The effective degree of grinding was found to depend on the aggregation/dispersion state or the viscosity of ...

Ferric chloride leaching of the Delta sulfide ores and gold extraction from the leaching residue [PDF]

open access: yes, 1988
Conventional differential and bulk flotation processes have difficulties in achieving high recoveries with acceptable grades far zinc, lead and copper from the complex sulfide ores found at Tok, Alaska.

The importance of mineralogical knowledge in the sustainability of artisanal gold mining: a mid-south Peru case [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
Mineralogy and gold processing techniques from several mining areas of the Nazca-Ocoña gold belt, Mid-South Peru, were investigated to assess the efficiency of gold extraction methods in relation to their mineralogy.

Mechanically Tunable Bone Scaffolds: In Vivo Hardening of 3D‐Printed Calcium Phosphate/Polycaprolactone Inks

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A 3D bone scaffold with osteogenic properties and capable of hardening in vivo is developed. The scaffold is implanted in a ductile state, and a phase transformation of the ceramic induces the stiffening and strengthening of the scaffold in vivo. Abstract Calcium phosphate 3D printing has revolutionized customized bone grafting.

Experimental validation of a fluid dynamics based model of the UF Falcon concentrator in the ultrafine range [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
The process of separating ultrafine particles, say below 80 μm, on the basis of density is a true technical challenge. Indeed, the separation process itself becomes very much size dependent with such fine particles, so that large enough density ...

Removal of Steroid Hormone Micropollutants by an Electrochemical Carbon Nanotube Membrane Flow‐Through Reactor: Role of Concentration and Degradation Mechanisms

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A flow‐through electrochemical membrane reactor equipped with a carbon nanotube membrane eliminates the mass transfer limitation, achieving removals >97.5% for steroid hormone (SH) micropollutants through electrochemical adsorption and degradation, over a broad initial concentration varying from 50 to 106 ng L−1.

Ultrafine Grinding in an Annular Ball Mill

open access: yesKONA Powder and Particle Journal, 2014
The influence of stirring speed, solids concentration, media density and size on grinding in a CoBall mill is described. The relationship between the product size and the process parameters was determined.

Lunar resource evaluation and mine site selection [PDF]

open access: yes
Two scenarios in this evaluation of lunar mineral resources and the selection of possible mining and processing sites are considered. The first scenario assumes that no new surface or near-surface data will be available before site selection (presumably ...
