Rate of removal of collagen and mineral from bone and cartilage
Metabolism, 1969Abstract The quantitative relationship between collagen and mineral dynamics in bone and costal cartilage has been studied. Young rats were injected simultaneously with both 14 C-proline and 85 Sr. The animals were sacrificed at intervals ranging from 1–20 days after injection.

The impact of herbivores on nitrogen mineralization rate: consequences for salt-marsh succession
Oecologia, 1999Soil net N-mineralization rate was measured along a successional gradient in salt-marsh sites that were grazed by vertebrate herbivores, and in 5-year-old exclosures from which the animals were excluded. Mineralization rate was significantly higher at ungrazed than at grazed sites.

The Journal of laboratory and clinical medicine, 1976The photon absorption technique was used to measure bone mineral content in the radius repeatedly with time to determine the feasibility of using this method in studies on the rate of loss with aging. Two groups of postmenopausal women were followed, a younger group for an average of 3.74 years and an older group for an average of 2.37 years.
