Clay Mineralogical and Related Characteristics of Geophagic Materials
Journal of Chemical Ecology, 2003Geophagy is the deliberate consumption of soil and clay deposits by animals, including man. Various hypotheses have been advanced to explain geophagic behavior, the main ones being: detoxification of noxious or unpalatable compounds present in the diet, alleviation of gastrointestinal upsets such as diarrhea, supplementation of mineral nutrients, and ...

Relating mineralogical and textural characteristics to flotation behaviour
Minerals Engineering, 2015Abstract Having knowledge of the ore mineralogy and texture can provide valuable information for effective design of a concentrator flowsheet. Specifically, these characteristics help in setting the appropriate grind size to achieve liberation and minimise overgrinding, and assist in identifying suitable flotation parameters to achieve optimum ...

Mineralogical characteristics of ceramics
2012Ten samples of recent ceramics’ fragments were analyzed using XRPD method. The ceramics are variably coloured as well as multicoloured. Two fragments are completely brownish-red ; two fragments are red with a thin black film on the one side and six fragments are black in the middle and red on the outer sides.

Zonal mineralogical/geochemical characteristics of soils ofMidwestern Nigeria
Journal of African Earth Sciences (and the Middle East), 1989Abstract Thirty-eight soil samples from sites across Midwestern Nigeria were analysed for both major oxidesand trace elements. Mineralogical analyses of selected samples representative of the entire area by x-ray diffractometry show the soils to consist predominantly of kaolinite and quartz.

Mineralogical characteristics and photocatalytic properties of natural sphalerite from China
Journal of Environmental Sciences, 2020Different natural sphalerites have a range of photocatalytic properties that can potentially be exploited for environmental remediation purposes. To develop value in the exploitation of sphalerite, samples were collected from 19 ore deposits in China and characterized for their mineralogical and photocatalytic properties.

Characteristic features of the mineralogy of uranium
The Soviet Journal of Atomic Energy, 1960The following characteristic features of the mineralogy of uraniun are discussed in the article: 1) all known uranium and uranium-bearing minerals contain oxygen; 2) uranium in minerals is present only in the tetra- and hexavalent states; 3) the bulk of the uranium in the earth's crust is concentrated in nonuranium minerals in the form of isomorphous ...

[Mineralogical and spectral characteristics of copper pectolite].
Guang pu xue yu guang pu fen xi = Guang pu, 2015Copper pectolite, a type of pectolite with blue stripes, is a rare gem material with a great market prospect. Mineralogy and genesis were investigated using X-ray diffraction (XRD), Fourier infrared absorption spectroscopy (FTIR), Raman spectroscopy (Raman), scanning electron microscopes (SEM) and ultraviolet-visible spectrometer(UV-VIS) to understand ...
