A one‐dimensional diffusion‐based mass transport model was built using PHREEQC to highlight the potential challenges posed by thermochemical sulfate reduction (TSR) in depleted gas fields. The results obtained indicated that the presence of iron minerals (pyrite and hematite) is crucial for H2S generation through TSR reactions.

Study on the diffusion and migration law of CO2 sequestrated in abandoned coal mine goaf
The goaf of an abandoned coal mine, endowed with expansive fracture spaces and an abundance of residual coal, can be capable of sequestrating substantial quantities of CO2. The residual coal is the principal medium for the sequestration of CO2 in the form of adsorption and the amount of sequestration is considerable.
