Scaling Up Purcell‐Enhanced Self‐Assembled Nanoplasmonic Perovskite Scintillators into the Bulk Regime

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, Volume 37, Issue 30, July 29, 2025.
This study presents a scalable approach to enhancing bulk scintillators using nanoplasmonics. By integrating 100‐nm silver nanoparticles with perovskite scintillator nanocrystals in a polymer matrix, significant improvements in light yield and decay rates via the Purcell effect are achieved.

Three New Endemic Species of Namib Day Geckos (Gekkonidae: Rhoptropus) From the Namibe Province, Angola

open access: yesEcology and Evolution, Volume 15, Issue 7, July 2025.
In this work, we described three new endemic species of Namib Day geckos (Rhoptropus) from the northern Benguela Province, highlighting the importance of this region as an important center of endemism. ABSTRACT Angola remains one of the least explored countries in Africa, and several groups of reptiles still require taxonomic and phylogenetic revision.

Defective Processing of Cytoplasmic and Chloroplast Ribosomal RNA in the Absence of Arabidopsis DXO1

open access: yesPlant, Cell &Environment, Volume 48, Issue 6, Page 4227-4244, June 2025.
ABSTRACT Decapping 5′‐3′ exoribonucleases from the DXO/Rai1 family are highly conserved among eukaryotes and exhibit diverse enzymatic activities depending on the organism. The biochemical and structural properties of the plant DXO1 differ from the yeast and animal counterparts, which is reflected in the in vivo functions of this enzyme.

Why the Long “Horns”? Fine‐Scale Morphology Suggests Tactile Demands Contributed to the Exaggeration of Male Longhorned Beetle Antennae (Coleoptera: Cerambycidae)

open access: yesEcology and Evolution, Volume 15, Issue 5, May 2025.
Exceptionally elongated antennae are common in male longhorned beetles (Coleoptera: Cerambycidae), but their function and evolution are poorly understood. Through scanning electron microscopy and antennal morphometrics of multiple Anoplistes species (Cerambycidae), our study revealed that elongate antennae are more likely adaptive for close‐range ...
