Computational Optimization of a Groove-Enhanced Minichannel

Heat Transfer Engineering, 2011
To meet the challenging thermal requirements of modern power electronics, surface enhancements are being considered to improve the performance of single-phase microchannels. A simple modification of a surface dimple—a two-dimensional groove—is considered due to its significant potential enhancement yet simple manufacture.

Particle ratio optimization of Al2O3-MWCNT hybrid nanofluid in minichannel heat sink for best hydrothermal performance

, 2020
Interesting hydrothermal behavior of hybrid nanofluid containing combination of dissimilar particles (completely different in terms of shape, size and properties) by changing their ratio is unexplored yet, which is analyzed experimentally for minichannel

Numerical Simulation of Condensation in a Minichannel

ASME 2009 Second International Conference on Micro/Nanoscale Heat and Mass Transfer, Volume 2, 2009
A steady-state Volume of Fluid (VOF) simulation of condensation of R134a inside a 1 mm i.d. minichannel is proposed. The minichannel is horizontally oriented and both the effects of gravity and surface tension are taken into account. A uniform interface temperature, as well as a uniform wall temperature, were fixed as boundary conditions in order to ...

Cooling of minichannel heat sink using nanofluids

International Communications in Heat and Mass Transfer, 2012
Abstract Nanofluids contain a small fraction of solid nanoparticles in base fluids. Nanofluids cooled small channel heat sinks, have been anticipated to be an excellent heat dissipation method for the next generation electronic devices. In this study, nanofluids are used with different volume fractions of nanoparticles as a coolant for the ...

Flow Boiling Heat Transfer Mechanism in Minichannels

ASME 5th International Conference on Nanochannels, Microchannels, and Minichannels, 2007
The present study is aimed at consideration of forced boiling heat transfer in a channel whose width is comparable and less than the capillary constant. When boiling occurs inside very small and non-circular passages the constrain phenomena become important in determining the aspects of flow phenomena such as the flow pattern and microscale heat ...

Flow Boiling of Refrigerants Inside a Single Circular Minichannel

ASME 2008 6th International Conference on Nanochannels, Microchannels, and Minichannels, 2008
The present paper reports the heat transfer coefficients measured during flow boiling of HFC-32 and HFC-134a in a 0.96 mm diameter single circular channel. The test runs have been performed during vaporization at around 30°C saturation temperature, correspondent to 19.3 bar for R32 and 7.7 bar for R134a.

Minichannels in Polymer Electrolyte Membrane Fuel Cells

ASME 2nd International Conference on Microchannels and Minichannels, 2004
This paper provides an overview of the application of minichannels, typically on the order of 1 mm hydraulic diameter, in the design of polymer electrolyte membrane (PEM) fuel cells. In these electrochemical devices, minichannels deliver reactant hydrogen and oxygen to the anode and cathode electrodes, respectively, while transporting product water out
