More minimal conditions for painting

2023
The grid, pristine industrial materials, systems, the monochrome - these are some of the more recognisable characteristics of Minimal art. These characteristics are used, or more correctly misused, in this project in such a way as to question the values commonly attributed to them; to insert evidence of use and the seed of doubt.

Groups with Various Minimal Conditions on Subgroups

Ukrainian Mathematical Journal, 2002
A group \(G\) is said to have the weak minimal condition on subgroups if \(G\) has no infinite strictly descending chain of subgroups \(H_1\supset H_2\supset\cdots\) with each index \([H_i:H_{i+1}]\) infinite. The authors, first, review recent results on groups with the weak minimal condition on nonnilpotent subgroups.

Automata with Extremal Minimality Conditions

2010
It is well known that the minimality of a deterministic finite automaton (DFA) depends on the set of final states. In this paper we study the minimality of a strongly connected DFA by varying the set of final states. We consider, in particular, some extremal cases. A strongly connected DFA is called uniformly minimal if it is minimal, for any choice of

The Minimality Condition in phonology

Journal of Linguistics, 1989
With a few honourable exceptions, phonologists have, until recently, generally assumed the phonological component to be organized along completely different lines from the other components of the grammar. Phonological phenomena were mainly viewed as accidental, language specific, and unprincipled.

Necessary Conditions and Minimal Extensions

2000
We are considering a technique of necessary conditions for nonconvex variational problems. Based on these conditions, we also suggest a minimal extension of unstable variational problems that makes the problem stable against these variations. The extended Lagrangian gives an upper bound for the quasiconvex envelope. We follow (Cherkaev, 1999).
