Weighted Minimal Hypersurface Reconstruction
IEEE Transactions on Pattern Analysis and Machine Intelligence, 2007Many problems in computer vision can be formulated as a minimization problem for an energy functional. If this functional is given as an integral of a scalar-valued weight function over an unknown hypersurface, then the sought-after minimal surface can be determined as a solution of the functional's Euler-Lagrange equation.

Finding Large Minimal Hypersurfaces
2022We show that for any closed Riemannian manifold with dimension between 3 and 7, either there are minimal hypersurfaces with arbitrarily large area, or the space of certain pathological-looking minimal hypersurfaces has a Cantor set structure. In particular, among the applications, we prove that there exist minimal hypersurfaces with arbitrarily large ...

Rigidity of Clifford Minimal Hypersurfaces
Monatshefte fr Mathematik, 2003The author proves some rigidity theorems for Clifford minimal hypersurfaces in a unit sphere. After a survey of the author's results proofs of the two major results are given.

MINIMAL HYPERSURFACES OVER SOFT OBSTACLES
Mathematics of the USSR-Izvestiya, 1974In the present work the following variational problem is discussed: minimize the area functional in the class of all functions for which . For small enough the existence of an extremal is proved, and it is shown that it belongs to with a Holder index , .

Rigidity of stable minimal hypersurfaces
Mathematische Annalen, 1997In this interesting paper, the authors -- motivated by \textit{D. Fisher-Colbrie} and \textit{R. Schoen} [Common. Pure Appl. Math. 33, 199-211 (1980; Zbl 0439.53060)] and \textit{R. Schoen} and \textit{S.-T. Yau} [Ann. Math. Stud. 102, 209-228 (1982; Zbl 0481.53036)] -- study stability of minimal hypersurfaces assuming, on the ambient manifold, that ...

Minimal Intransigent Hypersurfaces
2006We give examples of hypersurfaces of degree d in P n(ℂ), whose singularities are not versally deformed by the family H d(n) of all hypersurfaces of degree d in P n(ℂ), and which are of minimal codimension with this property.

Minimal disks and two-convex hypersurfaces
American Journal of Mathematics, 2002In this paper we apply an existence theory and estimates on the Morse index of minimal two-spheres and minimal disks with free boundary in two-convex domains in Euclidean space and in manifolds with positive isotropic curvature, to study the topology of two-convex domains.
