Optimal Control of Hydrogen Atom-Like Systems as Thermodynamic Engines in Finite Time

open access: yesEntropy, 2020
Nano-size machines are moving from only being topics of basic research to becoming elements in the toolbox of engineers, and thus the issue of optimally controlling their work cycles becomes important.

Septin 9 PB domains coordinate centrosome positioning and microtubule acetylation to control epithelial polarity

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Septin 9 polybasic domains couple phosphoinositide‐rich membrane binding to centrosome positioning, Golgi organization, and microtubule acetylation to control epithelial polarity. Their loss disrupts this axis, causing centrosome mispositioning, Golgi fragmentation, reduced microtubule acetylation, and polarity inversion via upregulation of the ...

Degradation mechanism of the von Willebrand factor A2 domain by nattokinase

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Nattokinase, a natto‐derived protease, exhibits potent antithrombotic effects. This study demonstrates that nattokinase directly cleaves the von Willebrand factor (vWF) A2 domain in vitro. Unlike the native regulator ADAMTS13, nattokinase degrades folded vWF independently of shear stress.

Podstawowe typy strukturalne nazw własnych współczesnych teatrów w Polsce

open access: yesAnnales Universitatis Paedagogicae Cracoviensis. Studia Linguistica, 2010
The subject of the article are the names of currently open Polish theatres. Attention is focused on the formal structure of the names, i.e. the number and type of the components of the official name of a theatre. Theatre names are nominal in nature and

Modulation of Homer1 EVH1 domain internal dynamics by putative autism‐associated mutations

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The putative autism‐associated M65I and S97L variants of the EVH1 domain of the postsynaptic scaffold protein Homer1 do not exhibit substantial changes in their overall structure or partner binding. Both of them, but especially the M65I variant, show altered internal dynamics relative to the wild‐type domain on the μs‐ms timescale, indicated by the ...

Minimal and maximal length involutions in finite coxeter groups

open access: yes, 2002
Let W be a finite irreducible Coxeter group. The aim of this paper is to describe the maximal and minimal length elements in conjugacy classes of involutions in ...

Cell geometry and membrane protein crowding constrain Escherichia coli growth rate, overflow metabolism, respiration, and maintenance energy

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The physical dimensions and shape of bacterial cells define the surface area available to acquire nutrients and the volume available for synthesizing proteins and DNA. Here, we use computational systems biology to decode the importance of cell geometry as a major determinant of prokaryotic phenotype, including growth rate and metabolic efficiency. This

Minimal abelian codes of length p^n and 2p^n

open access: yes, 2023
Let F_q  be a finite field with q elements and G be a finite abelian group such that (Q , |G| )=1. Then the group algebra F_qG is semisimple and its ideals can be expressed by means of the primitive idempotents of F_qG.

Probing the Structures of Viral RNA Regulatory Elements with SHAPE and Related Methodologies

open access: yesFrontiers in Microbiology, 2018
Viral RNAs were selected by evolution to possess maximum functionality in a minimal sequence. Depending on the classification of the virus and the type of RNA in question, viral RNAs must alternately be replicated, spliced, transcribed, transported from ...
