Minimal Surfaces

open access: yes, 2010
Minimal Surfaces is the first volume of a three volume treatise on minimal surfaces (Grundlehren Nr. 339-341). Each volume can be read and studied independently of the others. The central theme is boundary value problems for minimal surfaces.

Minimal Surfaces

open access: yes, 2007
Abstract We here review the theory of minimal surfaces, especially in 3-manifolds. Monotonicity properties of codimension one minimal surfaces, e.g. barrier surfaces, the maximum principle etc. complement the role of monotonicity in the theory of groups of homeomorphisms of 1-manifolds. When we come to study taut foliations in earnest in

Quasicrystalline minimal surfaces

Physical Review B, 1994
Minimal surfaces are considered as alternatives to tilings in the search for simple mathematical objects that have the properties of a quasicrystal. The construction of such objects, it seems, has not been addressed before and we propose a solution in the form of a limiting process.
