Equivalence between minimal time control problems and minimal norm control problems [PDF]
This paper presents some of our new developments about the equivalence between time optimal control problems and norm optimal control problems. Besides, several applications of this equivalence are given.

A Workflow to Accelerate Microstructure‐Sensitive Fatigue Life Predictions
This study introduces a workflow to accelerate predictions of microstructure‐sensitive fatigue life. Results from frameworks with varying levels of simplification are benchmarked against published reference results. The analysis reveals a trade‐off between accuracy and model complexity, offering researchers a practical guide for selecting the optimal ...

Herein, environmental scanning electron microscopy (ESEM) is discussed as a powerful extension of conventional SEM for life sciences. By combining high‐resolution imaging with variable pressure and humidity, ESEM allows the analysis of untreated biological materials, supports in situ monitoring of hydration‐driven changes, and advances the functional ...

A numerical model resulting from irreversible thermodynamics for describing transport processes is introduced, focusing on thermodynamic activity gradients as the actual driving force for diffusion. Implemented in CUDA C++ and using CalPhaD methods for determining the necessary activity data, the model accurately simulates interdiffusion in aluminum ...

THE CONSTRUCTION OF EDUCATIONAL TASKS ON MATHEMATICS: MATHEMATICAL MODELS, ALGORITHMS, PROGRAMS
The problem of forming future and current teachers’ integrative knowledge as knowledge of a higher level in comparison with the knowledge of certain subjects (mathematics and informatics) is reduced to the solution of specific educational situations that

Problems of Minimal Resistance and the Kakeya Problem [PDF]
Summary: Here we solve the problem posed by \textit{M. Comte} and \textit{T. Lachand-Robert} in [SIAM J. Math. Anal. 34, No. 1, 101--120 (2002; Zbl 1034.49013)]. Take a bounded domain \(\Omega \subset \mathbb{R}^2\) and a piecewise smooth nonpositive function \(u : \bar\Omega \to \mathbb{R}\) vanishing on \(\partial\Omega\).

It is shown that laser ablation pretreatment under oxygen‐free conditions enables copper–aluminium bonding at significantly lower deformation degrees and improved properties compared to mechanical brushing. Laser ablation further increases interface contact area and induces favourable residual stress states and microstructural compatibility ...

Collagen hydrolysate is evaluated as a sustainable binder for MgO‐C refractories. Its thermally induced cross‐linking and gas release lead to expansion and cracking in large bricks, but tailored batches with lignin, recyclates, or fine graphite improve the gas release while thermal treatment and stability.
