Minimally Invasive Glaucoma Surgery: Trabeculectomy Ab Interno

2013
Trabeculectomy ab interno with the trabectome (Neomedix, Tustin, CA) was FDA approved in 2004. It was originally described as using electrocautery to ablate trabecular meshwork, unroofing the nasal Schlemm’s canal over 30–60°. The first series of 37 patients was highly successful demonstrating a mean 42 % decrease in IOP from a baseline of 28 mmHg ...

[Minimally invasive glaucoma surgery using the trabectome].

Klinische Monatsblatter fur Augenheilkunde, 2015
The main barrier reducing outflow of aqueous humor in open angle glaucomas is the juxtacanalicular trabecular meshwork. The trabectome removes this pathophysiologically altered tissue by electroablation, thus allowing for the collector channels draining Schlemm's canal to directly communicate with the anterior chamber.

[Excimer laser trabeculotomy: minimally invasive glaucoma surgery].

Der Ophthalmologe : Zeitschrift der Deutschen Ophthalmologischen Gesellschaft, 2007
Excimer laser trabeculotomy (ELT) is a minimally invasive method for reducing intraocular pressure.
