Following Anesthetic Course in Pharmacological Space [PDF]

open access: yes, 2004
Procedural sedation, also known as conscious sedation is used for minimally invasive procedures performed outside the operating room where pain or surgical stimulation is not great enough to require general anesthesia.

Targeting PRAME directly or via EZH2 inhibition overcomes retinoid resistance and represents a novel therapy for keratinocyte carcinoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The study evaluated the function and therapeutic implications of PRAME in basal cell carcinoma (BCC) and squamous cell carcinoma (SCC). The findings demonstrate that PRAME impairs keratinocyte differentiation pathways. Furthermore, PRAME impairs anticancer response to retinoid compounds in BCC and SCC cells.

Situation Awareness for Automated Surgical Check-listing in AI-Assisted Operating Room [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2022
Nowadays, there are more surgical procedures that are being performed using minimally invasive surgery (MIS). This is due to its many benefits, such as minimal post-operative problems, less bleeding, minor scarring, and a speedy recovery. However, the MIS's constrained field of view, small operating room, and indirect viewing of the operating scene ...

Minimal-invasive, video-assisted vein harvesting for cardiac and vascular surgical procedures [PDF]

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Cardio-Thoracic Surgery, 1997
Harvesting of the saphenous vein is a routine procedure in coronary and peripheral vascular surgery. It is usually performed using a continuous long skin incision. Minor complications are reported in up to 24% (hematoma, wound dehiscence, infection, pain) and major problems necessitating surgical interventions (bleeding, abscess) in less than 1%. These

The affordability of minimally invasive procedures in major lung resection: a prospective study.

open access: yesInteractive Cardiovascular and Thoracic Surgery, 2017
OBJECTIVES Minimally invasive procedures are used for the surgical treatment of lung cancer. Two techniques are proposed: video-assisted thoracic surgery or robotic-assisted thoracic surgery. Our goal was to study the economic impact of our long-standing

Use of the Olympus endoArm for spinal and skull-based transsphenoidal neurosurgery [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
ManuscriptMinimally invasive surgical techniques have evolved to reduce soft-tissue injury associated with open surgical techniques. The use of endoscopic visualization allows the exposure of deep structures and provides a mechanism to perform all the ...

Transcriptome‐wide analysis of circRNA and RBP profiles and their molecular relevance for GBM

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
CircRNAs are differentially expressed in glioblastoma primary tumors and might serve as therapeutic targets and diagnostic markers. The investigation of circRNA and RNA‐binding proteins (RBPs) interactions shows that distinct RBPs play a role in circRNA biogenesis and function.

Think Step by Step: Chain-of-Gesture Prompting for Error Detection in Robotic Surgical Videos [PDF]

open access: yesIEEE Robotics and Automation Letters, vol. 9, no. 12, pp. 11513-11520, Dec. 2024
Despite significant advancements in robotic systems and surgical data science, ensuring safe and optimal execution in robot-assisted minimally invasive surgery (RMIS) remains a complex challenge. Current surgical error detection methods involve two parts: identifying surgical gestures and then detecting errors within each gesture clip.

Quantification of Robotic Surgeries with Vision-Based Deep Learning [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2022
Surgery is a high-stakes domain where surgeons must navigate critical anatomical structures and actively avoid potential complications while achieving the main task at hand. Such surgical activity has been shown to affect long-term patient outcomes.
