Controlled Release of Human Dental Pulp Stem Cell‐Derived Exosomes from Hydrogels Attenuates Temporomandibular Joint Osteoarthritis

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Exosomes can reduce tissue damage in temporomandibular joint osteoarthritis (TMJOA), but rapid clearance limits their efficacy. This study encapsulates exosomes in hyaluronic acid hydrogels for controlled release. In a rat model, hydrogel‐encapsulated exosomes outperform free exosomes in preserving bone integrity and reducing tissue destruction ...

Delivery of Islatravir via High Drug‐Load, Long‐acting Microarray Patches for the Prevention or Treatment of Human Immunodeficiency Virus

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, Volume 14, Issue 7, March 14, 2025.
Islatravir‐loaded dissolving microarray patches (MAPs) provide a minimally invasive, long‐acting solution for HIV‐1 prevention and treatment. In rats, sustained islatravir delivery lasts up to three months, while in minipigs, efficacious plasma levels are detected for six days.

Toward Zero-Shot Learning for Visual Dehazing of Urological Surgical Robots [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv
Robot-assisted surgery has profoundly influenced current forms of minimally invasive surgery. However, in transurethral suburethral urological surgical robots, they need to work in a liquid environment. This causes vaporization of the liquid when shearing and heating is performed, resulting in bubble atomization that affects the visual perception of ...

A novel minimally invasive surgical technique (LONG procedure) for treating chylopericardium

open access: yesJournal of Thoracic Disease
BACKGROUND: Chylopericardium is a rare disease resulting from lymphatic system dysfunction and characterized by recurrent chylous pericardial effusion and cardiac compression. Traditional treatments like fasting, somatostatin injection and ligation of pericardial lymphatic vessels are less effective, with high recurrence rate.

Smart Polymeric 3D Microscaffolds Hosting Spheroids for Neuronal Research via Quantum Metrology

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, Volume 14, Issue 7, March 14, 2025.
Development of a platform consisting of 3D microscaffolds supporting 3D embryoid bodies for neuronal research. The polymeric scaffolds enable directed growth of neurites. This study shows nanodiamond‐based quantum sensors graft onto the polymer material, enabling quantum metrology experiments within the 3D neuronal model and thereby providing a ...

Suture Thread Modeling Using Control Barrier Functions for Autonomous Surgery [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv
Automating surgical systems enhances precision and safety while reducing human involvement in high-risk environments. A major challenge in automating surgical procedures like suturing is accurately modeling the suture thread, a highly flexible and compliant component. Existing models either lack the accuracy needed for safety critical procedures or are
