Minimax Approximation of Sign Function by Composite Polynomial for Homomorphic Comparison
IEEE Transactions on Dependable and Secure Computing, 2022The comparison operation for two numbers is one of the most frequently used operations in several applications, including deep learning. As such, lots of research has been conducted with the goal of efficiently evaluating the comparison operation in ...

Accelerated Minimax Algorithms Flock Together
SIAM Journal on Optimization, 2022Several new accelerated methods in minimax optimization and fixed-point iterations have recently been discovered, and, interestingly, they rely on a mechanism distinct from Nesterov's momentum-based acceleration.

The minimax method is applied to boundary value problems of structural mechanics. This is a weighted residual method in which the absolute value of a residual is minimized. It is similar to collocation-based finite elements. Computational implementation is achieved using linear programming.

Polygonal approximation by the minimax method
Computer Graphics and Image Processing, 1982Summary: This paper is concerned with the problem of approximating digitized pictures by polygons. The digitized picture is represented by a two- dimensional array of points, and it is desired to convert the given array into a set of polygons, such that each polygon has the least number of sides and the error between the initial points and the ...
