Current trends in single‐cell RNA sequencing applications in diabetes mellitus

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Single‐cell RNA sequencing is a powerful approach to decipher the cellular and molecular landscape at a single‐cell resolution. The rapid development of this technology has led to a wide range of applications, including the detection of cellular and molecular mechanisms and the identification and introduction of novel potential diagnostic and ...

Estimating Renyi Entropy of Several Exponential Distributions Under an Asymmetric Loss Function

open access: yesRevstat Statistical Journal, 2017
The present paper takes into account the estimation of the Renyi entropy of several exponential distributions under a linex loss function. The models under study are (i) several exponential distributions with a common scale parameter and unknown but ...

Minimum variance unbiased estimation in the Pareto distribution

open access: yesMetrika, 1983
Theorems are presented for finding the UMVU estimators of functions of the parameters of the Pareto distribution. Further, UMVU estimators are obtained for the geometric mean, median andr-th moment about zero of a Pareto distribution. These estimators are in the form of infinite series but truncations after only a few terms may perform adequately.

Uniform minimum variance unbiased estimators for bivariate families [PDF]

open access: yesMetrika, 1992
We consider uniform minimum variance unbiased (UMVU) estimation of an unbiased estimable function of distribution parameters for bivariate truncation (non-regular) parameter families. In particular, we derive the UMVU estimator of the probability thatY is less thanX.

Are Slepian-Wolf Rates Necessary for Distributed Parameter Estimation?

open access: yes, 2015
We consider a distributed parameter estimation problem, in which multiple terminals send messages related to their local observations using limited rates to a fusion center who will obtain an estimate of a parameter related to observations of all ...

Completeness and unbiased estimation of mean vector in the multivariate group sequential case [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
We consider estimation after a group sequential test about a multivariate normal mean, such as a χ2 test or a sequential version of the Bonferroni procedure.

Plasma microRNA Signature as Predictive Marker of Clinical Response to Therapy During Multiple Sclerosis

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Despite the availability of effective therapies for Multiple Sclerosis (MS), the unpredictable nature of disease progression and the variability in individual treatment outcomes call for reliable biomarkers. This pilot study aims to investigate the potential of plasma circulating microRNAs (miRNAs) as predictive biomarkers for ...

Bias Reduction of Maximum Likelihood Estimates for an Asymmetric Class of Power Models with Applications

open access: yesRevstat Statistical Journal, 2023
In this paper we study some methods to reduce the bias for maximum likelihood estimation in the general class of alpha power models, specifically for the shape parameter. We find the modified maximum likelihood estimator using Firth's method and we show

Multiple Comparisons for Exponential Median Lifetimes with the Control Based on Doubly Censored Samples

open access: yesMathematics, 2020
Under doubly censoring, the one-stage multiple comparison procedures with the control in terms of exponential median lifetimes are presented. The uniformly minimum variance unbiased estimator for median lifetime is found.
