About an Unbiased Estimate of the Gradient with Minimum Variance in the Planning of the Experiment [PDF]

open access: yesUniversal Journal of Applied Mathematics, 2014
This paper considers algorithms of search of an extremum, to solve the problem of planning the experiment using the gradient method. A feature of the algorithm is that when searching for the motion (when the maximum) does not occur in the direction of the gradient, which is unknown to us, but its estimate.

What inference for two-stage phase II trials?

open access: yesBMC Medical Research Methodology, 2012
Background Simon’s two-stage designs are widely used for cancer phase II trials. These methods rely on statistical testing and thus allow controlling the type I and II error rates, while accounting for the interim analysis.

Bimetallic Nanoparticles as Cocatalysts for Photocatalytic Hydrogen Production

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Recent developments have introduced bimetallic nanoparticles as effective cocatalysts for photocatalytic systems. This review explores the rapidly expanding research on bimetallic cocatalysts for photocatalytic production of hydrogen, emphasizing the creation of carrier‐selective contacts, localized surface plasmon resonance effects, methodologies for ...

Minimum Variance Unbiased Maximum Likelihood Estimation of the Extreme Value Index [PDF]

open access: yes
New results for ratios of extremes from distributions with a regularly varying tail are presented. Deriving from independence results for certain functions of order statistics, 'consecutive' ratios of extremes are shown to be independent as well as non ...

Cramer-Rao Bounds for Misspecified Models [PDF]

open access: yes, 1986
In this paper, we derive some lower bounds of the Cramer-Rao type for the covariance matrix of any unbiased estimator of the pseudo-true parameters in a parametric model that may be misspecified.

Optimal Estimation of Several Linear Parameters in the Presence of Lorentzian Thermal Noise

open access: yes, 2009
In a previous article we developed an approach to the optimal (minimum variance, unbiased) statistical estimation technique for the equilibrium displacement of a damped, harmonic oscillator in the presence of thermal noise.
