Prediction of Nonlinear Micro-Milling Force with a Novel Minimum Uncut Chip Thickness Model [PDF]

open access: yesMicromachines, 2021
The minimum uncut chip thickness (MUCT), dividing the cutting zone into the shear region and the ploughing region, has a strong nonlinear effect on the cutting force of micro-milling. Determining the MUCT value is fundamental in order to predict the micro-milling force.

Chip Morphology and Minimum Thickness of Cut in Micromachining.

open access: yesJournal of the Japan Society for Precision Engineering, 1993
For understanding of nanometric chip removal process and in quest of extreme machining accuracy attainable, a carefully controlled microcutting experiment of electroplated copper was carried out on the-state-of-the-art experimental cutting machine and diamond cutting tool.

Modeling and investigation of minimum chip thickness for silicon carbide during quasi-intermittent vibration–assisted swing cutting

open access: yesThe International Journal of Advanced Manufacturing Technology, 2022
Abstract In micromachining, the Quasi-intermittent Vibration-assisted Swing Cutting technology alleviates the residual height problem of vibration-assisted machining, and inherits the intermittent machining characteristics of Elliptical Vibration-assisted Cutting (EVC). The minimum chip thickness has a significant impact on cutting forces, tool

Estimation of Minimum Uncut Chip Thickness during Precision and Micro-Machining Processes of Various Materials—A Critical Review [PDF]

open access: yesMaterials, 2021
Evaluation of the phenomena characterizing the chip decohesion process during cutting is still a current problem in relation to precision, ultra-precision, and micro-machining processes of construction materials. The reliable estimation of minimum uncut chip thickness is an especially challenging task since it directly affects the machining process ...

Influence of the Minimum Chip Thickness on the Obtained Surface Roughness During Turning Operations

open access: yesProcedia CIRP, 2014
AbstractConsiderable efforts have been put into analyzing the obtained surface roughness during turning operations. However, knowledge is still lacking on how to model the arithmetic mean surface roughness Ra through using a general model applicable for all workpiece materials and process parameters. Further, the influence of the minimum chip thickness

Somatic mutational landscape in von Hippel–Lindau familial hemangioblastoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The causes of central nervous system (CNS) hemangioblastoma in Von Hippel–Lindau (vHL) disease are unclear. We used Whole Exome Sequencing (WES) on familial hemangioblastoma to investigate events that underlie tumor development. Our findings suggest that VHL loss creates a permissive environment for tumor formation, while additional alterations ...

Adaptor protein CIN85 potentiates the motility of osteosarcoma cells via the Akt/mTOR and MMP2‐COL3A1 axis

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
CIN85 is highly expressed in osteosarcoma, particularly in metastatic lesions. Its overexpression increases cell migration and Matrigel invasion, while silencing CIN85 suppresses these behaviors. Transcriptome analysis shows that CIN85 regulates MMP2, COL3A1, and Akt/mTOR signaling. Targeting these pathways reverses CIN85‐induced motility, highlighting

Interaction of HS1BP3 with cortactin modulates TKS5 localisation, cell secretion and cancer malignancy

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Here, we demonstrate that HS1BP3 interacts with Cortactin through a proline‐rich region (PRR3.1) and show that this interaction, and HS1BP3 itself, promote cancer cell proliferation and invasion. Inhibition of this interaction leads to build‐up of TKS5 in multivesicular endosomes and altered secretion of CD63 and CD9, providing an explanation for the ...

Analysing the significance of small conformational changes and low occupancy states in serial crystallographic data

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
This protocol paper outlines methods to establish the success of a time‐resolved serial crystallographic experiment, by means of statistical analysis of timepoint data in reciprocal space and models in real space. We show how to amplify the signal from excited states to visualise structural changes in successful experiments.

Experimental Evaluation of 100Cr6 Steel Microindented Surfaces Under Lubricated Nonconformal Point Contacts

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
The tribological behavior of 100Cr6 steel spheres textured via Vickers microindentation is evaluated under lubricated sliding by varying both dimple size and density. Fine and dense textures significantly reduce friction across all lubrication regimes, while large dimples increase it.
