Creep of udimet 500 during thermal cycling: I. The minimum creep rate
Metallurgical Transactions A, 1975The effect of rapid temperature cycling on the minimum creep rate of Udimet 500 super-alloy was investigated. It was found that an abrupt temperature decrease during creep is followed by a delay period of zero creep rate. Due to this delay period the creep rate under thermal cycling conditions is lower than the creep rate calculated from the steady ...

Effect of tungsten on transient creep deformation and minimum creep rate of reduced activation ferritic-martensitic (RAFM) steel has been assessed. Tungsten content in the 9Cr-RAFM steel has been varied between 1 and 2 wt pct, and creep tests were carried out over the stress range of 180 and 260 MPa at 823 K (550 °C).

Analysis of the minimum creep rates of TiAl alloys
Materials Science and Engineering: A, 2003Abstract The creep rate limiting factors for secondary creep of TiAl alloys has been analyzed based on the experimental data from 40 previous studies. The experimental data can be well predicted using a dislocation glide (DG) equation e min ( DG )=K 0 exp (−Q L /RT) sinh (σ/σ 0 ) or a grain boundary ...

Extrapolation of Imaginal Minimum Creep Rate in Compression by a Concept of SATO-Index
Creep characteristics of alloys and compounds have been evaluated mainly by the minimum creep rate or the steady-state creep rate, and by its stress and temperature dependences. In some cases, however, direct comparison of the minimum creep rate or the steady-state creep rate are not practically easy due to difficulties of experiment, i.e., a long ...

Minimum creep rate from primary creep using strain relaxation and recovery test
Scripta Materialia, 2003Abstract Minimum creep rate and ‘irreversible’ viscous strain rate, evaluated by strain relaxation and recovery test, during primary creep in a nickel-based Waspaloy at 732 °C (0.62Tm) are shown to obey the same power-law with a stress exponent of 11 from 450 to 650 MPa. Viscous strain rate exhibits a continuous stress dependency from 315 to 725 MPa.
