Prediction of the minimum fluidization velocity

Powder Technology, 1993
Abstract Relations to determine the minimum fluidization velocity (umf) are tested statistically with 80 measurements reported in the literature on 20 different substances. All relevant relations (33 equations) can be reformulated as dimensions correlations in which the state of the fluidized bed is determined by the parameter Ar/Remf.

Minimum fluidization velocity of binary mixtures

The Canadian Journal of Chemical Engineering, 1989
AbstractThe fast defluidization method was used to measure the minimum fluidization velocities of binary systems. Based on the experimental data obtained from the published literature and from this work, different correlations used for predicting the minimum fluidization velocities of binary systems were evaluated and compared.

Minimum fluidization velocity and bed expansion of the inverse fluidized bed

Particulate Science and Technology, 2023
To define the fluid-dynamic properties of inverse fluidized beds, studies of the minimum fluidization velocity and bed expansion were performed in this work. The experiments were performed in an inverse fluidized bed of polypropylene and polystyrene particles in a cylindrical column using water and an aqueous glycerol solution of different ...

Minimum Fluidization Velocity of Fine Particles

Materials Science Forum, 2008
The minimum fluidization velocity is an important parameter in the design and operation of an industrial unit of fluidization. In the present work the minimum fluidization velocities of fine particles were obtained through two experimental methodologies.

Minimum fluidization velocity at high temperatures

Industrial & Engineering Chemistry Research, 1987

Prediction of minimum fluidization velocity for vibrated fluidized bed

Powder Technology, 2003
Abstract The prediction of minimum fluidization velocity for vibrated fluidized bed was performed. The Geldart group A and C particles were used as the fluidizing particles. The method based on Ergun equation was used to predict the minimum fluidization velocity. The calculated results were compared with the experimental data. The calculated results

Minimum fluidization velocities of fluidized-bed coal-combustion solids

Powder Technology, 1991
Abstract The minimum fluidization velocities of coal, char, limestone, lime and partially sulphated lime under typical AFBC conditions and at room temperature have been determined experimentally. On fitting the experimental data to a Wen and Yu type equation, the two fitted parameters are found to be highly sensitive to the fitting method used to ...

Minimum liquid fluidization velocity in gas‐liquid‐solid fluidized beds

AIChE Journal, 1997
AbstractAccurate detection of minimum liquid fluidization is essential to the successful operation of gas‐liquid‐solid fluidized beds, especially when particle or liquid properties evolve. A gas‐liqid‐solid system of 3‐mm glass beads exhibits three distinct flow regimes as the liquid velocity is increased: compacted, agitated and fluidized‐bed regmes ...
