Effects of energy deposition schedule on minimum ignition energy in spark ignition of methane/air mixtures

Proceedings of the Combustion Institute, 2002
A two-dimensional numerical analysis with elementary reactions including ion-molecule reactions has been performed to investigate the effect of energy deposition schedule on the minimum ignition energy in the composite spark ignition of methane/air mixtures.

Towards absolute minimum ignition energies for dust clouds?

Combustion and Flame, 1975
Abstract A review of the literature related to spark ignition of dust clouds revealed that contrary to what is the case of gases, the spark energy required for igniting a given dust cloud is markedly dependent, even by orders of magnitude, upon the characteristics of the spark discharge, in particular the discharge time. By using a specially designed

Minimum ignition energy for micro and nano flash powders

Process Safety Progress, 2011
AbstractThe minimum ignition energy (MIE) of dust clouds is required to assess the electrostatic ignition risk. Recently, the growing number of accidents shows that fire and explosions occurring in fireworks industry are due to electrostatic discharge (ESD).

The Formation of Sparks of Minimum Ignition Energy

IEEE Transactions on Industry Applications, 1978
A study has been made of incendiary discharges with minimum energy and between metal electrodes. The circuit used has a characteristic relaxation time smaller than the time required to distinquish several successive stages in spark formation. Examples are provided to show that the character and duration of each stage as well as the possibility to ...

Minimum Ignition Energy Measurements for α-Pinene/Air Mixtures

Combustion Science and Technology, 2014
The aim of this work is to determine the minimum ignition energy (MIE) of the α-pinene/air mixture using a laser-induced spark ignition. The α-pinene is a volatile organic compound (VOC) widely found in air freshener, home fragrance, and household products and also emitted by several vegetal species.

Minimum ignition energy of medicinal powder – Florfenicol and Tilmicosin

Journal of Loss Prevention in the Process Industries, 2016
Abstract This work aims to help improve the electrostatic safety design and explosion prevention of medical facilities. In this study, the minimum ignition energies (MIEs) of Florfenicol, Tilmicosin and mixtures of Florfenicol and Tilmicosin at ratios of 1:1, 1:2, 2:1 and 1:4 were measured in a Hartmann apparatus.

Effect of particle morphology on dust minimum ignition energy

Powder Technology, 2019
Abstract Dust explosions are a threat to process industries. Studies have examined the effect of (particle size, chemical composition, and polydispersity) on dust explosion potential and severity; however the effect of particle morphology on dust explosions has largely been neglected.

Minimum ignition energy and minimum explosible concentration of L-isoleucine and glycine powder

Powder Technology, 2019
Abstract In this study, Minimum Ignition Energy (MIE) and Minimum Explosible Concentration (MEC) of L-isoleucine and glycine powder with two different particle size distributions were experimentally investigated. The experimental results showed that the values of MIE and MEC of L-isoleucine powder were lower than those of glycine powder.
