Pyrophoric sulfides influence over the minimum ignition temperature of dust cloud [PDF]

open access: yesAIP Conference Proceedings, 2017
The dust cloud is the main form of existence of combustible dust in the production area and together with the existence of effective ignition sources are the main causes of dust explosions in production processes. The minimum ignition temperature has an important role in the process of selecting the explosion-protected electrical equipment when ...

Minimum ignition energy of hydrogen-air mixtures at ambient and cryogenic temperatures

open access: yesInternational Journal of Hydrogen Energy, 2023
International audience ; The ignition and combustion of hydrogen in air is considered more hazardous compared to other fuels due to the lower minimum ignition energy (MIE) and the wider flammability range. Spark discharge is the most common type of electrostatic ignition hazard.

Flash Assembloids: A Rapid Biofabrication of a Platform for Modeling Early Glioblastoma Invasion at the Glioblastoma–Brain Organoid Interfaces

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
This study presents a bioengineered assembloid (ASM) system combining glioblastoma (GBM) cells in oxidized alginate (OA) microgels with dorsal organoids (DOs). This model simulates brain tumor‐host interactions, revealing enhanced GBM invasion, altered gene expression, and aggressive infiltration patterns, demonstrating ASM as a valuable platform for ...

Study on Sensitivity Differences of Critical Spontaneous Ignition Temperature between Alcohol and Hydrocarbon Fuels Based on Reaction Pathway

open access: yesEnergies, 2019
In this article, the critical spontaneous ignition temperature of both hydrocarbon and alcohol fuel was acquired on a constant volume combustion bomb platform by slowly heating the inner charges, and then followed by using the CHEMKIN-PRO software to ...

Polymorph‐Specific Electronic Transduction in WO3 during Molecular Sensing

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Metal‐oxide polymorphs with similar surface chemistry can nevertheless exhibit distinct sensing properties. In γ‐ and ε‐WO3, analyte adsorption appears comparable; yet, only ε‐WO3 induces a pronounced lattice electronic perturbation that accommodates charge in sub‐conduction band minimum states.

Combustion characteristics of hydrogen in a noble gas compression ignition engine

open access: yesEnergy Reports, 2021
Hydrogen eliminates carbon emissions from compression ignition (CI) engines, while noble gases eliminate nitrogen oxide (NOx) emissions by replacing nitrogen. Noble gases can increase the in-cylinder temperature during the compression stroke due to their

Toward a Unified Mechanistic Understanding of Polymer Electrolytes for Advanced Solid‐State Batteries

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Polymer electrolytes (PEs) are often indiscriminately grouped as “solid polymer electrolytes (SPEs)”, despite fundamental differences in their ion‐transport mechanisms. This Perspective establishes a mechanism‐based framework that distinguishes gel, quasi‐solid, and all‐solid polymer electrolytes based on their dominant ion‐transport pathways.

Photocatalytic Water Splitting on the Lunar Surface: Prospects for In Situ Resource Utilization

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, EarlyView.
Water has been found in craters on the moon nearby locations which are illuminated >80% of the time. Photocatalysis uses energy from sunlight to drive chemical reactions such as water splitting to produce oxygen and hydrogen. It is a scalable technology that requires lighter equipment and utilizes resources available on the moon. ABSTRACT The discovery

Stabilizing Electrochemical Interfaces With Multifunctional Cobalt Nitride Layers

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, EarlyView.
Cobalt nitrides emerged recently as an interesting class of earth‐abundant oxygen evolution catalysts. Herein, plasma‐enhanced atomic layer deposition is used to synthesize multifunctional cobalt nitride layers that simultaneously protect and catalytically activate photoelectrode surfaces.
