Clinical relevance of Minimum Inhibitory Concentrations (MICs)
Aquaculture, 2001This paper considers the practical approach taken to choosing the best antibiotic treatment for a bacterial disease. Comparisons are made between minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) and Disc Diffusion methods of determining antibiotic sensitivity of pathogenic bacteria in practice.

Correlation of minimum inhibitory concentration and beta-lactamase activity
Infection, 1977The beta-lactamase activity of 510 recently isolated Enterobacteriaceae was investigated with a quantitative photometric test. Beta-lactamase could be detected in 55 percent of the Enterobacteriaceae. At the same time minimal inhibition concentration (MIC) of beta-lactam antibiotics was determined.

Effect of protein on ramoplanin broth microdilution minimum inhibitory concentrations
Diagnostic Microbiology and Infectious Disease, 1993Ramoplanin is a glycolipodepsipeptide antibiotic active against Gram-positive bacteria. We observed that microdilution minimum inhibitory concentrations (MICs) were higher than those obtained in glass tubes or by agar dilution. Initial studies showed that these differences disappeared when 30% bovine serum was added to the broth. Further studies showed

The NaCl MNICs (maximum non-inhibitory concentrations) and MICs (minimum inhibitory concentrations) for growth of various strains of six bacterial species were determined and then compared with those obtained for seven other solutes. The influence of prior growth conditions on the MNICs and MICs was also evaluated.

The inhibitory quotient. A method for interpreting minimum inhibitory concentration data.
JAMA, 1981A method for reporting minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) data that facilitates interpretation by the clinician unfamiliar with clinically achievable drug levels is described. This system uses the inhibitory quotient, which is a number reflecting the multiple of the MIC that would be achieved.

Minimum Inhibitory Concentration (MIC) Analysis and Susceptibility Testing of MRSA
2007The widespread occurrence of methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) or oxacillin-resistant MRSA is a major cause of concern worldwide. Although mainly located in hospital environments, these microorganisms have been reported to have the capacity to cause infections in the community.
