Radiation Minimum Temperatures
American Journal of Physics, 1957Frost resulting from cooling of vegetation by nocturnal radiation is a serious agricultural problem. Because of the number of variables involved, attacks on this problem from a purely theoretical point of view have met with only moderate success. It seems logical to suppose that an instrument might be devised which would speed up the natural radiation ...

Ionospheric temperatures at sunspot minimum
Journal of Atmospheric and Terrestrial Physics, 1965Abstract The temperature profile throughout the ionosphere is determined by the relative importance of the following processes: the rate of heat input to the ambient electron gas by Coulomb scattering of photoelectrons; the rate of transfer of heat from the electron gas to the neutral atmosphere; heat conduction by the electron gas.

Minimum findable temperature difference
SPIE Proceedings, 1994A new measure called minimum findable temperature difference (MFTD) is offered as a means of characterizing thermal imaging performance under scene clutter limited conditions. MFTD extends an older performance methodology called minimum detectable temperature difference (MDTD) which was offered in the 70's as a sensor performance characterization under

Forecasting the Minimum Temperature
1979Most human activities are limited by temperatures below certain thresholds. Thus, in construction work, it is impossible to pour concrete below the minimum temperature, which depends on the composition of the concrete. It is possible to lower these limiting thresholds by adding to the mixture chemical products which facilitate the setting of hydraulic ...

The Vertical Temperature Distribution and the Layer of Minimum Temperature
Journal of Applied Meteorology, 1963Abstract Seven years of temperature observations from Cape Canaveral, Florida, are used for a detailed examination of the vertical temperature structure. In the troposphere, temperature variations increase with time; in the stratosphere 12-hour temperature changes are greatest and 24-hour changes are least, showing the diurnal temperature control.

Critical Minimum Temperatures of Reptiles
1973Reptile biological studies have been most productive at centres near deserts. This may have led to the considerable amount of research into the upper temperature relations of reptiles. Reptile cryobiological research has received little attention although it is commonly known that some reptile species inhabit temperate biomes, high latitudes and high ...

MINIMUM TEMPERATURES IN THE LOWER STRATOSPHERE
Monthly Weather Review, 1959Abstract An analysis of the lowest temperatures observed at the base of the stratosphere in various zones of the globe shows that the recent records obtained over the Antarctic lower the previous world record of long standing, which was registered in the equatorial zone at Batavia in 1913.
