Predicting the Future Burden of Renal Replacement Therapy in Türkiye Using National Registry Data and Comparative Modeling Approaches

open access: yesTherapeutic Apheresis and Dialysis, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Chronic kidney disease is a growing public health problem worldwide, and the number of patients requiring renal replacement therapy is steadily increasing. Türkiye has experienced a similar rise in both the incidence and prevalence of renal replacement therapy over the past decades; however, national‐level projections of future ...

Minimum Weight Euclidean $$(1+\varepsilon )$$-Spanners

open access: yes, 2022
Given a set $S$ of $n$ points in the plane and a parameter $\varepsilon>0$, a Euclidean $(1+\varepsilon)$-spanner is a geometric graph $G=(S,E)$ that contains, for all $p,q\in S$, a $pq$-path of weight at most $(1+\varepsilon)\|pq\|$. We show that the minimum weight of a Euclidean $(1+\varepsilon)$-spanner for $n$ points in the unit square $[0,1]^2$

The anti‐CRISPR protein AcrIE8.1 inhibits the type I‐E CRISPR‐Cas system by directly binding to the Cascade subunit Cas11

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this study, we present the structure of AcrIE8.1, a previously uncharacterized anti‐CRISPR protein that inhibits the type I‐E CRISPR‐Cas system. Through a combination of structural and biochemical analyses, we demonstrate that AcrIE8.1 directly binds to the Cas11 subunit of the Cascade complex to inhibit the CRISPR‐Cas system.

On minimum sum representations for weighted voting games [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
A proposal in a weighted voting game is accepted if the sum of the (non-negative) weights of the "yea" voters is at least as large as a given quota. Several authors have considered representations of weighted voting games with minimum sum, where the ...

A Cre‐dependent lentiviral vector for neuron subtype‐specific expression of large proteins

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We designed a versatile and modular lentivector comprising a Cre‐dependent switch and self‐cleaving 2A peptide and tested it for co‐expression of GFP and a 2.8 kb gene of interest (GOI) in mouse cortical parvalbumin (PV+) interneurons and midbrain dopamine (TH+) neurons.

Tracking shoreline change using minimum convolution of Gaussian weight and squared differences

open access: yesFrontiers in Marine Science
Detecting and responding appropriately to temporal changes in the shoreline is an important task for protecting coasts. Video monitoring has been utilized as a powerful tool for detecting shoreline changes. Existing shoreline-tracking methods include the

The Estimation of Heritability of Weekly Body Weights in Japanese Quails with MINQUE(Minimum Quadratic Unbiased Estimation) Method

open access: yesTurkish Journal of Agriculture: Food Science and Technology, 2016
In this study the heritability of body weights of Japanese quails (Coturnix coturnix Japanica) were estimated by using MINQUE (Minimum Quadratic Unbiased Estimation) methods.

MODIFIED WEIGHT MATRIX USING PRIM’S ALGORITHM IN MINIMUM SPANNING TREE (MST) APROACH FOR GSTAR(1;1) MODEL

open access: yesBarekeng, 2023
The Generalized Space-Time Autoregressive (GSTAR) model is able to utilize modeling of both space and time simultaneously. The existence of a weight matrix is one of the aspects that established this model.
