Chasing the perfida Albione: Anglo‐Italian productivity gap in the late 1930s

open access: yesThe Economic History Review, EarlyView.
Abstract This paper presents new estimates of Anglo‐Italian labour productivity levels in manufacturing in the late 1930s, derived using the standard single‐deflation approach. The findings confirm a substantial productivity gap between Italy and the United Kingdom at the aggregate level, alongside pronounced intersectoral heterogeneity.

Design of a Three‐Phase PWM Rectifier Based on Improved Whale Optimization Algorithm Optimized Fuzzy Control

open access: yesAdvanced Control for Applications, Volume 8, Issue 3, September 2026.
Schematic diagram of the whale optimization algorithm (WOA)–optimized fuzzy proportional–integral–derivative (PID) controller. The WOA is employed to dynamically tune the scaling factor expressions and fuzzy control parameters (a(e)a(e), a(ec)a(ec), βpβp, βiβi), as well as the initial PID gains (kp0kp0, ki0ki0), based on the error (ee) and its ...

Electrochemical Detection of Heavy Metal (Pb Ions) and Pharmaceutical Waste (Ciprofloxacin) in Very Low Concentration Using β‐NaFeO2

open access: yesElectrochemical Science Advances, Volume 6, Issue 4, August 2026.
Organic and inorganic pollutants detection in waste water using β‐NaFeO2 and inorganic pollutants detection in waste water using β‐NaFeO2. ABSTRACT Electrochemical techniques as a point of care analysis are drawing the researcher's attention, especially in the case of heavy metal ions (HMIs) detection. In this research, β‐NaFeO2 was synthesized using a

Recovering Critical Elements From Wastewater for Battery Materials: A Review

open access: yesRare Metals, Volume 45, Issue 7, July 2026.
ABSTRACT Driven by global carbon neutrality goals, the transition toward a circular economy and sustainable resource management has become increasingly imperative. Given the indispensable role of battery technologies in modern energy storage systems, strategic elements such as lithium (Li), cobalt (Co), and nickel (Ni)—identified by the European ...

Multi‐Site Chelation Enabled by 3D‐Printed TiO2 Hydrogel Monoliths for Dynamic Ge(IV) Recovery in Fixed Beds

open access: yesRare Metals, Volume 45, Issue 7, July 2026.
ABSTRACT Germanium is a critical dispersed metal, yet sustainable recovery from dilute solutions is limited by sorbents that are difficult to regenerate and operate in continuous mode. Here, we fabricate a regenerable 3D‐printed hydrogel monolith (3D‐ATO‐GS) by integrating hydroxyl‐rich amorphous TiO2 nanoparticles into an alginate/gelatin scaffold ...

Defining the geographical level of competition: a taxonomy of industry tradability

open access: yesEconomica, Volume 93, Issue 371, Page 962-991, July 2026.
Abstract The paper develops a taxonomy of industry tradability to define the geographical level at which competition takes place. First, it creates a novel dataset that combines production and international trade data for both goods and services industries, defined at a detailed (3‐digit) level of industry aggregation for 15 European countries.
