Localized and Short‐Term Effects of Lockdowns on Urban Rental Markets: Evidence From Shanghai

open access: yesInternational Studies of Economics, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT This paper investigates the localized and short‐term effects of COVID‐19‐induced lockdowns on Shanghai's rental market in the second half of 2022. Using Difference‐in‐Differences methodologies, we find that rental prices declined by 1.5% following the lockdowns on average, with areas characterized by a high density of companies falling by 2.0%

Methodology for Stress Concentration Analysis in Corrosion Pits Using the Finite Element Method

open access: yesMaterials and Corrosion, EarlyView.
The stress concentration factor (Kt ${K}_{{\rm{t}}}$) calculated using the methodology proposed for discretized models can be significantly higher compared with analytical models. Discretized models base the corrosion pit shape on measurements through surface topographic techniques, while analytical models simplify the pit shape to elliptical ...

The Influence of Subcritical Annealing and Cold Working on the Hydrogen Embrittlement Susceptibility of X65 D Pipeline Steel

open access: yesMaterials and Corrosion, EarlyView.
This study investigated the effect of subcritical heat treatment and cold work on the hydrogen embrittlement (HE) susceptibility of the X65 D pipeline steel. Hydrogen charging reduced the ductility of all specimens. Both subcritical annealing and cold working decreased somewhat the degree of HE.

A knowledge graph attention network for the cold‐start problem in intelligent manufacturing: Interpretability and accuracy improvement

open access: yesMaterials Genome Engineering Advances, EarlyView.
SteelKGAT enhances prediction accuracy and interpretability. Notably, this work represents the first application of knowledge graph attention neural networks to address the cold‐start problem in steel rolling production. Abstract In the rolling production of steel, predicting the performance of new products is challenging due to the low variety of data

Utilization of Catla catla Fish Scale for Eliminating Cr (III) and Co (II) Heavy Metals From Wastewater

open access: yesNano Select, EarlyView.
The graphical abstract represents fish scales, a waste by product, were repurposed as a bio‐adsorbent for Cr(III) and Co(II) removal. The scales were washed, dried, and ground before being tested under varying concentrations. FTIR analysis showed changes in functional groups after adsorption, while SEM revealed metal ion attachment.

Elucidating the Pivotal Role of Thermodynamics and Nanofiller Geometry on the Stereocomplexation of Polylactide Nanocomposites Filled With Graphene Oxide, Carbon Nanotubes, and Their Hybrid

open access: yesPolymer Composites, EarlyView.
Polylactide stereocomplexation in GO/CNT‐filled nanocomposites, illustrating the CNT/GO wetting interface in the presence of stereocomplexed polylactide as a third medium. ABSTRACT Incorporating nanoparticles can meaningfully alter the stereocomplexation of polylactide systems.

“It Looks as if They Threw the Entire Periodic Table Into the River”: A Decolonial Perspective for Chemistry Education in the Context of Environmental Injustices

open access: yesScience Education, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT In this article I explore the case of the Mariana dam disaster in 2015 in Brazil seeking to contribute to reflections about the role of chemistry and chemistry education in environmental injustices. Drawing on stories about this disaster shared in the Dead River Podcast (2024), on wider literature and on other cases of environmental injustices

Immobilization of Enzyme–Polymer Hybrids and Nanozymes Through Electrostatic Interactions: Toward Multicatalytic Microreactors with Controlled Nanoarchitecture

open access: yesSmall Science, EarlyView.
A modular hybrid membrane is constructed via a layer‐by‐layer strategy, integrating glucose oxidase/horseradish peroxidase or glucose oxidase/nanozyme‐loaded microreactors within alternating polyelectrolyte layers on a calcium carbonate core. This hierarchical design enables precise spatial confinement of catalytic units, facilitating efficient cascade
