Single‐ and Dual‐Atom Configurations in Atomically Dispersed Catalysts for Lithium–Sulfur Batteries

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Single‐atom and dual‐atom‐based atomically dispersed catalysts (ADCs) effectively address the shuttle effect and sluggish redox kinetics in Li–S batteries. With nearly 100% atomic utilization and tunable coordination environments, ADCs enhance LiPSs adsorption, lower conversion barriers, and accelerate sulfur redox reactions.

A review of landscape rehabilitation frameworks in ecosystem engineering for mine closure [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Mining causes changes to the environment and rehabilitation is necessary at mine closure. There is a lack of appropriate frameworks for mine site rehabilitation. In most cases, restoring the mine to previous conditions is challenging.

Polymer Interface Enables Reversible Quasi‐Solid Sulfur Conversion in Sodium‐Sulfur Batteries

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
The polymer interface enables a stable quasi‐solid sulfur conversion pathway in room‐temperature Na─S batteries. The coating regulates Na+ transport, stabilizes the cathode–electrolyte interphase, and accommodates mechanical stress, suppressing electrolyte decomposition and sulfur migration, thereby improving reaction uniformity, reducing polarization,

Environmental pollution produced by gold artisanal mining in the Mapiri river basin, Apolobamba, Bolivia [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Mining activity is very important in Bolivia since colonial times. Today it has been reactivated, especially gold mining, due to rise in metal prices. Artisanal and small-scale mining activities are abundant in the protected area of Apolobamba, near the ...

Solvent Co‐Intercalation Enabled Ca Storage in MoS2 for Ca‐Ion Batteries

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Regulating electrolyte solvation levels enables otherwise non‐intercalatable Ca2+ ions to reversibly co‐intercalate into molybdenum disulfide (MoS2) as ether‐solvated species. The intercalation reversibility is strongly governed by solvent chain length, as demonstrated using diethylene glycol dimethyl ether (G2) and tetraethylene glycol dimethyl ether (

The Distribution and Prevalence of the Alfalfa Blotch Leafminer (Diptera: Agromyzidae) in Illinois [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Surveys were made in 2001 and 2002 to determine the distribution and prevalence of the alfalfa blotch leafminer, Agromyza frontella (Diptera: Agromyzidae), and its primary parasitoids, Dacnusa dryas and Chrysocharis liriomyzae (Hymenoptera: Braconidae ...
