Brucella spp. distribution, hosting ruminants from Greece, applying various molecular identification techniques

open access: yesBMC Veterinary Research, 2022
Background Brucellosis still remains an endemic disease for both livestock and human in Greece, influencing the primary sector and national economy in general.

Bridging the Gap Between the Earth's Ionosphere and Plasmasphere

open access: yesGeophysical Research Letters, Volume 52, Issue 23, 16 December 2025.
Abstract Cold plasma distribution in the ionosphere‐plasmasphere system governs wave‐particle interactions, plasma energization and loss, and radio wave propagation. A longstanding observational gap at altitudes ∼ ${\sim} $800–8,000 km has largely prevented studying the coupled dynamics of the two regions.

Sub‐Seasonal Impact of GNSS Radio Occultation Data

open access: yesGeophysical Research Letters, Volume 52, Issue 21, 16 November 2025.
Abstract This study investigates for the first time whether the assimilation of the Global Navigation Satellite System Radio occultation (GNSS‐RO) data has a significant impact on the European Centre for Medium‐Range Weather Forecasts sub‐seasonal forecasts.

Effects of habitat fragmentation on the Eurasian badger (<em>Meles meles</em>) subpopulations in Denmark

open access: yesHystrix, the Italian Journal of Mammalogy, 2001
<strong>Abstract</strong> Genetic variation in five populations of the Eurasian badger from Denmark was screened, using the hyper-variable minisatellite DNA probe 33.15. Very low genetic variability was found within populations. This lack of

Molecular mining of alleles in water buffalo Bubalus bubalis and characterization of the TSPY1 and COL6A1 genes. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2011
BACKGROUND: Minisatellites are an integral part of eukaryotic genomes and show variation in the complexity of their organization. Besides their presence in non-coding regions, a small fraction of them are part of the transcriptome, possibly participating

Cataloging Human PRDM9 Allelic Variation Using Long-Read Sequencing Reveals PRDM9 Population Specificity and Two Distinct Groupings of Related Alleles

open access: yesFrontiers in Cell and Developmental Biology, 2021
The PRDM9 protein determines sites of meiotic recombination in humans by directing meiotic DNA double-strand breaks to specific loci. Targeting specificity is encoded by a long array of C2H2 zinc fingers that bind to DNA.

Impact of Filtering Methods in the Assessment of COSMIC Electron Density Profiles Over the Brazilian Region: Excluding Profiles With Negative Values Is the Best Strategy?

open access: yesRadio Science, Volume 60, Issue 11, November 2025.
Abstract Global Navigation Satellite Systems radio occultation (RO) is a valuable and relevant source of information from the atmosphere. Many efforts have been made to provide methods of validation of RO profiles, however, no clear methodology for filtering the profiles from RO can be easily found.

Field‐Aligned Currents During High‐Intensity Long‐Duration Continuous Auroral Electrojet Activity Events: Seasonal Dependences

open access: yesSpace Weather, Volume 23, Issue 11, November 2025.
Abstract High‐intensity long‐duration continuous auroral electrojet activity (HILDCAA) events caused by interplanetary Alfvén waves are associated with global‐scale convection events. HILDCAAs occur primarily during the solar cycle declining phase (Hajra et al., 2013, https://doi.org/10.1002/jgra.50530). A statistical study is conducted for 42 HILDCAAs

Identification of mitochondrial markers for genetic traceability of European wild boars and Iberian and Duroc pigs

open access: yesAnimal, 2009
Iberian pigs and wild boars are the source of highly priced meat and dry-cured products. Iberian maternal origin is mandatory for labeled Iberian products, making necessary the authentication of their maternal breed origin.

Unusual Phase Alignment of Nighttime Electrified Medium‐Scale Traveling Ionospheric Disturbance After Moderate Geomagnetic Storms and Response to Substorms

open access: yesGeophysical Research Letters, Volume 52, Issue 20, 28 October 2025.
Abstract A nighttime electrified medium‐scale traveling ionospheric disturbance (EMSTID) was observed over Japan on 17 March 2003, after two moderate geomagnetic storms. Unlike typical northwest‐southeast alignment in quiet conditions, the EMSTID exhibited an unusual northeast‐southwest orientation.
