Nonsurgical Correction of Brodie Bite in Mixed Dentition Using Quad‐Helix Expansion: A Case Report

open access: yesClinical Case Reports, Volume 14, Issue 7, July 2026.
ABSTRACT This case report presents a nonsurgical correction of a dentoalveolar Brodie bite in a mixed dentition patient using a quad‐helix appliance. Mandibular expansion resolved the transverse discrepancy within 3 months, improving occlusion, and eliminating a habitual mandibular shift that had contributed to facial asymmetry.

Dento-skeletal class II malocclusion in the mixed dentition period: Treatment with the aid of miniscrews

open access: yes, 2012
Objectives: To demonstrate how class II malocclusion can be corrected with the aid of miniscrews, without the patient's cooperation, by exploiting the growth differential to improve skeletal relationships.

The effect of rotation moment on the stability of immediately loaded orthodontic miniscrews: a pilot study. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of the direction and magnitude of the rotation moment to loaded orthodontic miniscrews on stability.

Posterior crossbite with mandibular asymmetry treated with lingual appliances, maxillary skeletal expanders, and alveolar bone miniscrews

open access: yes, 2022
Posterior crossbite and mandibular asymmetry affect esthetics and function. We report treatment of 3 patients with posterior crossbite with mandibular asymmetry but different anteroposterior and vertical characteristics.

FE‐Based Biomechanical Analysis of AZ31B Sub‐Orbital Osteosynthesis Implant Manufactured by Superplastic Forming

open access: yesAdvanced Theory and Simulations, Volume 9, Issue 5, May 2026.
A concurrent finite‐element framework is presented for the design of a patient‐specific AZ31B sub‐orbital osteosynthesis implant manufactured by superplastic forming. The approach couples process simulation and biomechanical analysis to quantify the effects of thickness heterogeneity and grain‐growth‐induced strength degradation.

Biological Effects of Anodic Oxidation on Titanium Miniscrews: An In Vitro Study on Human Cells

open access: yesDentistry Journal, 2019
This controlled in vitro study compared the effects of varying the thickness of a TiO2 layer on cellular activity using commercially available miniscrew samples with identical surface features to derive information with direct clinical impact.

Rehabilitation in Cases of Maxillary Lateral Incisor Agenesis Using Zirconia Implant and Abutment: Finite Element Analysis and Systematic Review

open access: yesJournal of Esthetic and Restorative Dentistry, Volume 38, Issue 4, Page 855-873, April 2026.
ABSTRACT Objective The use of narrow‐diameter implants has emerged as a strategy to compensate for the reduced bone dimensions of maxillary lateral incisor agenesis (MLIA). This study integrates finite element analysis (FEA) and systematic review (SR) to assess the biomechanical and clinical viability of implant‐supported crowns in MLIA scenarios ...

Miniscrew implant applications in contemporary orthodontics

open access: yesThe Kaohsiung Journal of Medical Sciences, 2013
AbstractThe need for orthodontic treatment modalities that provide maximal anchorage control but with minimal patient compliance requirements has led to the development of implant‐assisted orthodontics and dentofacial orthopedics. Skeletal anchorage with miniscrew implants has no patient compliance requirements and has been widely incorporated in ...

Distal Upper Molar Force Distribution With Clear Aligners Using Different Anterior Teeth Anchorage Setups: A Finite Element Study

open access: yesOrthodontics &Craniofacial Research, Volume 29, Issue 2, Page 281-289, April 2026.
ABSTRACT Objective The notion that clear aligners alone can distalize upper molars without affecting anterior teeth is inaccurate. Although strategies such as Class II elastics, tooth‐movement sequencing, and attachment variations have been investigated to mitigate unwanted side effects, temporary anchorage devices have demonstrated potential for ...

Survival of palatal miniscrews used for orthodontic appliance anchorage: a retrospective cohort study

open access: yes, 2013
INTRODUCTION The purpose of this study was to examine the overall success of miniscrews inserted in the paramedian palatal region for support of various appliances during orthodontic treatment.
