A Status Report on Conflict Analysis in Mixed Integer Nonlinear Programming

open access: yes, 2019
Mixed integer nonlinear programs (MINLPs) are arguably among the hardest optimization problems, with a wide range of applications. MINLP solvers that are based on linear relaxations and spatial branching work similar as mixed integer programming (MIP ...

Implementation of Distributed Time Exchange Based Cooperative Forwarding [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
In this paper, we design and implement time exchange (TE) based cooperative forwarding where nodes use transmission time slots as incentives for relaying.

Disjunctive Cuts for Nonconvex MINLP [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
Mixed Integer Nonlinear Programming (MINLP) problems present two main challenges: the integrality of a subset of variables and nonconvex (nonlinear) objective function and constraints. Many exact solvers for MINLP are branch-and-bound algorithms that compute a lower bound on the optimal solution using a linear programming relaxation of the original ...

Artificial Intelligence–Driven and Digital Practices for Circular Business and Finance: Insights for Advancing Hubs for Circularity

open access: yesBusiness Strategy and the Environment, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT The emerging concept of Hubs for Circularity (H4Cs) presents an opportunity to create collaborative, self‐sustaining regional industrial ecosystems that drive circular economy transitions at scale. However, the operationalisation of H4Cs faces financial, organisational and data‐driven challenges.

Impact of Distillation Column Design on Potential for the Integration of Mechanical Vapor Recompression

open access: yesChemie Ingenieur Technik, EarlyView.
Mechanical vapor recompression integration in distillation is analyzed, focusing on feed preheating and column pressure drop. Binary methanol–water and benzene–toluene separations are studied to identify optimal designs, which are further assessed in a bioethanol vacuum distillation sequence regarding energetic, ecological, and economic performance ...

Energy Flexibilization and Demand Response for a Novel Decentralized Power‐to‐Methanol Process

open access: yesChemie Ingenieur Technik, EarlyView.
This study presents the results of an optimization framework for the scheduling of a Power‐to‐methanol process coupled with an electrolyser, renewable energy sources and a battery. The optimal dynamic operating schedule is computed with different configurations and boundary conditions, showing the advantages of flexible operation.

An Algorithm for Calculating Gas Transmission System Optimal Stationary Mode [PDF]

open access: yesE3S Web of Conferences, 2019
In this paper, we consider the problem of calculating the optimal stationary mode of the gas transmission system. The maximum throughput of the gas transmission system was used as optimization criterion.
