The Bioengineering of Microspheric Skin Organoids and Their Application in Drug Screening

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A novel method for the preparation of uniform microspheric skin organoids via spinning bioreactors is developed. The organoid consists of a core‐shell structure to mimic the bilayered skin structure with the epidermis on the surface. For efficient drug screening, the organoid is equipped with a luciferase reporter to detect canonical Wnt signaling, and

Variability in intestinal drug metabolizing enzymes and transporters in Crohn's disease and potential impact on oral drug absorption

open access: yesBritish Journal of Clinical Pharmacology, EarlyView.
Aims The aim of study was to generate quantitative data on the abundance of drug‐metabolizing enzymes and transporters (DMETs) in inflamed and non‐inflamed Crohn's disease (CD) ileum and colon, for incorporation into physiologically based pharmacokinetic (PBPK) models, enabling prediction of oral drugs' pharmacokinetics (PK) perturbation in CD patients.

Electrochemistry and Antioxidant Activities of Substituted Furanyl Nitrone: The Role of the Nitro Group

open access: yesChemElectroChem, EarlyView.
N‐methyl‐nitroaryl‐furanyl‐nitrone (LQB‐569) suffers a 10‐electron reduction, forming a hydrazine group with two terminal hydroxylamine groups. Nitrones’ antioxidant capacity (AO), despite being very low, correlates with their oxidation profiles, and the ones able to oxidize more easily have better results on DPPH• scavenging and ferric‐reducing ...

Repurposing Acebutolol for Osteoporosis Treatment: Insights From Multi‐Omics and Multi‐Modal Data Analysis

open access: yesClinical Pharmacology &Therapeutics, EarlyView.
Overview of a multi‐omics based drug repurposing strategy. The systematic drug repurposing strategy included the following steps: (1) osteoporosis driver signaling networks were identified from multi‐omics data; (2) drug functional modules were obtained using a network fusion approach to integrate drug similarity information; (3) all drugs were ranked ...

Case Report of a Patient With Psoriasis Vulgaris, Psoriatic Arthritis and Alopecia Universalis Successfully Treated With Tofacitinib and Methotrexate

open access: yesJEADV Clinical Practice, EarlyView.
We present a case of a 31‐year‐old female with alopecia universalis, psoriasis vulgaris, and psoriatic arthritis, who showed poor response to prior treatments. Following the initiation of a combination therapy with tofacitinib and methotrexate, significant improvements in joint pain and hair regrowth were observed.

Perceived Stigma Among Adults With Alopecia Areata in the United States

open access: yesThe Journal of Dermatology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Alopecia areata (AA) can significantly impact mental/emotional quality of life, which may be partially attributed to disease‐related stigma. We assessed patient‐reported stigma in US adults with AA using data collected from the 2023 US National Health and Wellness Survey.

The effects of caffeine and adenosine on the microbiome and lipidome of the scalp

open access: yesInternational Journal of Cosmetic Science, EarlyView.
At 12 weeks, anti‐hair loss effects were evident with decreased Pseudomonas, Escherichia‐Shigella and Malassezia and increased Talaromyces and Cutibacterium. Lipid levels were impacted, correlating with Escherichia‐Shigella and Talaromyces. Abstract Hair loss is a complex multifactorial process.
