In the history of mankind, there was no other recording tools and opportunities other than human memory until the writing comes into being. There was no recording tools other than the mind/memory which executes the transfer function. Therefore, the type and shape characteristics of folk literature were formed in “oral culture” environment.

The tradition of minstrelsy in Turkish literature, has a long tradition dating back hundreds of years, and has managed to survive to this day. Minstrel branches played an important role in turning minstrel literature into a tradition. Master minstrels have the ability to influence their apprentices, as well as minstrels who are not part of their branch.
