Statistics of fingerprint minutiae frequency and distribution based on automatic minutiae detection method

Forensic Science International, 2023
The Daubert case in Philadelphia in 1999 caused a debate about the scientificity of fingerprint evidence. Since then, the current fingerprint identification system has been constantly challenged and questioned. Quantitative identification technology based on the statistics of fingerprint minutiae has become a new research hot spot.

Fingerprint minutiae matching based on complex minutiae vector

Proceedings of 2004 International Conference on Machine Learning and Cybernetics (IEEE Cat. No.04EX826), 2005
Because of strict restriction on false reject rate, false accept rate, and computational time cost, fingerprint minutiae matching is a challenging task. We proposed a novel fingerprint feature named complex minutiae vector (CMV) for fingerprint minutiae matching, which consists of a ridge rotation angle associated with a minutia and four ridge counts ...

Reconstructing Orientation Field From Fingerprint Minutiae to Improve Minutiae-Matching Accuracy

IEEE Transactions on Image Processing, 2009
Minutiae are very important features for fingerprint representation, and most practical fingerprint recognition systems only store the minutiae template in the database for further usage. The conventional methods to utilize minutiae information are treating it as a point set and finding the matched points from different minutiae sets. In this paper, we

Minutiae latinae

Resonant Minutiae

2022
Abstract This chapter examines three prosodic niceties: first, some apparently clumsy lines at the Son’s judgement of the fallen Adam and Eve; then a couple of isolated lines uniquely odd in rhythm or pronunciation; and finally an isolated but rich rhyme in Paradise Regained.

Minutia handedness: A novel global feature for minutiae-based fingerprint matching

Pattern Recognition Letters, 2012
Traditional minutiae-based matching algorithms are challenged by the probability that minutiae from different regions of different fingers may not be well matched, and hence lead to erroneous matching results. In this paper we introduce a novel feature called minutia handedness to deal with this problem.

MODIFIED PRINCIPAL CURVES BASED FINGERPRINT MINUTIAE EXTRACTION AND PSEUDO MINUTIAE DETECTION

International Journal of Pattern Recognition and Artificial Intelligence, 2011
It is difficult but crucial for minutiae extraction and pseudo minutiae deletion of low quality fingerprint images in auto fingerprint identification systems. Traditional methods based on thinning images or gray-level images are, however, susceptible to noise.

Milieus of Minutiae

2019
The eighteenth and nineteenth centuries were replete with large-scale projects and interests: the rise of the most colossal modern literary form, the novel; the craze for panorama; the pursuit of imperial ambitions by both European and American powers. At the same time, however, interest in minutiae proliferated on both sides of the Atlantic, as ...

Augmented fingerprint minutiae vicinity

2011 18th IEEE International Conference on Image Processing, 2011
A local-area based fingerprint minutiae vicinity can be represented in a self-aligned way and achieves better robustness for recognition than a global minutiae template whose global geometric references (e.g., core or delta) are usually unstable to locate.
