Experimental Characterization and Constitutive Modeling of the Effect of Prior Inelastic Strain on the Viscoplastic Behavior of AD730 at 700 °C

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study shows that superalloys used in aircraft engine disks become much more prone to deformation at high temperatures if they have been strained during manufacturing. This effect increases with the level of prior strain but eventually reaches a limit.

Higher ploidy coincides with inferior performance and no difference in drought tolerance in a mesocosm experiment with common reed (Phragmites australis)

open access: yesEnvironmental and Experimental Botany
Climate change leads to more extreme weather events. Therefore, high stress tolerance is becoming increasingly critical for plants. A higher ploidy level has been reported to lead to higher stress tolerance in plants.

Experimental Characterization of Mycelium‐Based Composites Under Multiple Loading Conditions

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study examines the mechanical response of mycelium‐based composites under compression, shear, and tension using mechanical testing and imaging methods. The comparison between unpressed and hot‐pressed specimens shows that hot pressing is associated with higher compression and shear stiffnesses.

Compatibility of Methacrylate Based Resins Controls Interfacial Failure and Toughness in 3D‐Printed Multimaterial Composites

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This work shows that the mechanical performance of multimaterial digital light processing (DLP) printed thermoset composites is governed by resin compatibility and interfacial design rather than spatial patterning alone. Brittle and ductile resin combinations produced premature interfacial failure, while graded interfaces and mechanically compatible ...

The impact of birch seedlings on evapotranspiration from a mined peatland: an experimental study in southern Quebec, Canada [PDF]

open access: yesMires and Peat, 2009
Dense stands of birch (Betula spp.) on abandoned peat workings have often been identified as potential barriers to site restoration, but little research has been conducted to evaluate their impact on water resources.

Suolla marjastamisen muuttuva kulttuuriperintö

open access: yesJ@rgonia, 2023
Artikkelin aiheena on suolla marjastamiseen liittyvä kulttuuriperintö ja siinä tapahtuneet muutokset. Upottavilla ja märillä soilla marjastaminen poikkeaa metsämarjojen poimimisesta.

Composites of Shellac and Silver Nanowires as Flexible, Biobased, and Corrosion‐Resistant Transparent Conductive Electrodes

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Shellac, a centuries‐old natural resin, is reimagined as a green material for flexible electronics. When combined with silver nanowires, shellac films deliver transparency, conductivity, and stability against humidity. These results position shellac as a sustainable alternative to synthetic polymers for transparent conductors in next‐generation ...
