Pain Management, 2019
Phantom limb pain (PLP) is a clinically relevant consequence of limb amputation and its treatment is still challenging. Mirror therapy, in other words, observing and engaging in the intact limb's mirrored movements, offers a promising, mechanism-based ...

Micro-electro-mechanical focusing mirrors
Proceedings MEMS 98. IEEE. Eleventh Annual International Workshop on Micro Electro Mechanical Systems. An Investigation of Micro Structures, Sensors, Actuators, Machines and Systems (Cat. No.98CH36176), 2002Novel surface-micromachined focusing mirrors have been designed, fabricated, and tested. The mirrors are constructed from concentric rings of polysilicon and gold, and connected by thin bridges of polysilicon. The outer ring of the mirror is lifted out of the plane of the substrate using thermal actuators to change the mirror's focal length.

Mirror neurons and their relationship with neurodegenerative disorders
Journal of Neuroscience Research, 2020The finding of mirror neurons (MNs) has provided a biological substrate to a new concept of cognition, relating data on actions and perceptions not only to integrate perception in action planning and execution but also as a neural mechanism supporting a ...

Solar heliostat field use a tower and a set of mirrors spread over a precise area. The publications refer to solar energy name the mirror that tracks to the Sun as heliostat. There is yet a theory related to the heliostat tracking. Indeed, there is a set of methods of tracking control based on calculus algorithm.

Cortical Mechanisms of Mirror Therapy After Stroke
Neurorehabilitation and Neural Repair, 2014Background and Objective. Mirror therapy is a new form of stroke rehabilitation that uses the mirror reflection of the unaffected hand in place of the affected hand to augment movement training. The mechanism of mirror therapy is not known but is thought to involve changes in cerebral organization.

Mirror Angle Tuning of Electromagnetic Micro-Mirrors With Oscillation Compensation
IEEE Transactions on Systems, Man, and Cybernetics: Systems, 2020Underdamped feature and hysteresis existing in electromagnetic scanning micro-mirrors (EMSMs) often lead to oscillation and undesired positioning error of deflection angle.

Reviews in the Neurosciences, 2020
Mirror-induced visual illusion obtained through mirror therapy is widely used to facilitate motor recovery after stroke. Activation of primary motor cortex (M1) ipsilateral to the moving limb has been reported during mirror-induced visual illusion ...

Mechanical properties of coated copper mirrors
Vacuum, 1990Abstract Copper mirrors are generally used in optical systems for handling CO 2 laser beams. The presence of a protective coating on the mirror surface is necessary to increase the lifetime of mirrors working in a hostile environment. The mechanical properties (adhesion, hardness and abrasion) of Y 2 O 3 and a-C:H protective thin films on copper ...

Mechanical principles of large mirror supports
SPIE Proceedings, 2010Large thin meniscus mirrors use force-controlled shape actuators to obtain the required optical performance. The shape actuators can be interpreted as an advancement of classical mirror supports as whiffle trees or iso-static levers, which worked purely mechanical.
